We chatted to a special person this week and did a 'remember when', with moments shared from our younger years. This was long before I met my Dear Other Half, but he joined in as we transitioned to memories from childhood.
It was such an enjoyable conversation, and I was still thinking about all those memories the next day. My creativity gene kicked in and I started playing on paint shop pro, and also found graphics on pixabay.com. It incorporates the interest I have for clothing down through the ages. Looking back I would have enjoyed working in the costume department at a theater. I had met someone who was very involved with a local theater group and I was being encouraged to join, but then I met someone else who became the love of my life, and here I am. Different forks in the road and all that, one I was very happy to travel along.
This photo is a place we go to often and have shared several times. Because I enjoy being around animals, the dogs and cats had to go in. It would have gotten a bit too crowded with any wildlife. Another put-together picture in the future I'm thinking.
I found the saying online but there was no author attached.
I hope your week has gone well. Thank you for calling as often as you do. I only wish I could fix you a proper cup of tea, or coffee, so that you could tell me about your own childhood memories.
Here's a virtual cuppa instead.
It is so lovely that you are still keeping in touch!
ReplyDeleteFeeling blessed that we do :)
DeleteThank you for sharing this happy memory with us. Denise Aloha!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Cloudia :) and thank you. Aloha!
DeleteLovely photo, and the tea was just the right temperature. Thank you! Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteExcellent, it does have to be at just the right temperature ;) Thank you Linda!
DeleteRemember when is a precious opening of memory banks. Thanks for the virtual cuppa.
ReplyDeleteLovingly put Sue and I am glad you enjoyed it :) thank you!
DeleteIt's nice to look back on fond memories. I was talking to one of my son and daughters teachers yesterday and we were talking about how my sons daughter will be starting kindergarten this year and I couldn't help thinking how sad it was that she wouldn't have the same teacher her father did.
ReplyDeleteAgreed and I seem to be doing more of it as I get older. That's a nice story about your children's teacher. Thanks for sharing that Ann :)
DeleteHad a "remember when" moment myself last week with an old friend I'd not seen in a long time, it's really special to be able to share memories going back a long time.
ReplyDeleteHello Dawn :) always lovely to share those special memories with an old friend.
DeleteA good memory is that Denise.
ReplyDeleteHappy you think so Margaret, thank you :)
DeleteRemember when will be a phrase I put up in my memory clinic front entrance.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Such a nice turn of phrase. Thank you roentare :)
Deletei like your red tea cup.. my favorite color. I like Elephants precious opening of memory banks. that is so true and I am happy for you you found someone to help you open yours. love that house
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, it is always very special and that red teacup jumped out at me. I have a lot of red around here, carpet, old jugs with red hearts on them, figurines. And that house is definitely the style I would like to live in. I really love those old houses.
DeleteI think siblings and childhood friends are people who knew you from the beginning. My sister and I are very close and she understands me even before I finish the sentence sometimes. And yes I still miss our childhood dog, Buster.
ReplyDeleteIsn't that wonderful? Lovely that you are so close to your sister. I can understand you missing your childhood dog too :)
DeleteDenise, I wish we could have a cup of tea and talk about old memories too. I guess we are thinking the same thing, as I jotted down some school memories on my last post. This girl with the cup of tea is delightful. I really like how you play with the pictures, and that house is charming in the background. I wonder if it still stands? Present times are nice, but we have to look back at those old wonderful moments in our childhood and smile.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Thank you Sheri, that would be lovely and I agree with you about thinking of the same things :) Fortunately the house is still standing and is now a visitor center. It once belonged to the family who owned the land. Eventually they turned over the house and the land they owned to the local county. Now it is a place that everyone can enjoy. Good people! Have a wonderful evening :)
DeleteWhat a lovely "remember when" post, Denise. Having those same moments frequently as the seasons pass. The lovely cottage you featured in this darling photo reminds me of my childhood home. Not as pristine, but similar. I'm not at all surprised you are interested in costume design. I hear and see your creativity in your posts!
ReplyDeleteHello Martha Ellen, and how lovely that you lived in a home like this one. Thank you for your sweet comments and enjoy your weekend.
Deletechuck and i talk about past trips and memories when we are driving in the car, when there's really nothing else to talk about. my childhood was not a happy one and i don't enjoy talking about it. my dating/married memories are so fun, like reliving a trip with the love of my life. we are lucky girls!!!
ReplyDeleteA large part of the fun in the journey actually is the journey :) I'm sorry to know of your childhood Debbie, but so glad you have Chuck to share these wonderful memories you have made together. You do have the love of your life and yes, we are very lucky girls :)))
DeleteGood to have such conversations.
ReplyDeleteThank you William, it is :)
DeleteThe older we get the more 'remember when' memories we can recall.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed the virtual cuppa, thank you :)
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan, as I said in my post, I wish I could give you a real one :) All the best to you too.
DeleteI really love your digital creation and the woman's wonderful clothes, the animals! And isn't it fun to be with someone and have those remember when moments? They are the best. On another note -- I went to a potluck this past week and took your cucumber salad. It was a hit -- there was none left to bring home! Which is good, but I'd hoped for leftovers! Fortunately, it's easy enough to do again! Thanks, also for your visits and comments, my friend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie :) yes, always fun to be with someone who shares those childhood memories. And it is always a pleasure to visit you, and always delighted when you visit here. So happy the cucumber salad was a hit and I am glad you enjoyed my digital art.
Delete😊
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandi :)
