WISE WORDS

Not everyone will love you, even if you try,

even when you give everything that you have, and more.

You can be tender and they will say you are too soft.

You can be brave and they will say you are too loud.

You can be kind and they will say you must have other intentions.

You can be confident and they will say you are drunk on your own reflection.

You can be different and they will say you are delusional.

You can be sad and they will say you are only looking for attention.

You will never find love by compromising who you are.

You will find love by remaining true to yourself

and seeing who chooses to stay.

  3. Very true. I think we all spend way too much time worrying about whether or not people like us. I think we just need to like ourselves and that is enough. The other people who like you as well are simply icing on the cake.

    1. Hi Ann, all we can do is do our best. I am at the stage of my life now where worry takes way too much energy, and getting older has been liberating for me. There is always icing on the cake, I like that :)

  8. Often, we try too much to have people like or love us, and that can cause real frustration. The fact is that to borrow another saying, you can't please everyone and so should please yourself.

    1. Thank you Jenn :) Many of us have been there and listening to others negativity can be draining. There are those who think they know us, the real 'us' and are often very wrong.

  12. Oh, I loved this, Denise. And it's so true. There's no pleasing everyone. And sometimes we just don't click with others. But like the poem says, we always see who chooses to stay. And the most important thing is that we don't change to please others, and we keep our own identity, even if it's unusual to others. Thank you for sharing this wonderful poem, Denise, and have a peaceful weekend, dear friend.

    1. Hello dear friend :) I totally agree! It's good to know people who don't fit into the usual cookie cutter of what others think should be the norm. Thank you and you have a peaceful weekend also.

  13. This is just WONDERFUL, and I am copying it!!! I need to take it to heart. Your photo editing is awesome, what did you use? I love the sunflower. And it has tiny ones growing in the center!

    1. Well Ginny, you have made my day :) So glad you enjoyed this. As for the flower, I used my ArtCard app. It makes it so easy to come up with something like this, just by the push of a button, with so many different effects. Those tiny flowers inside the center are an amazing part of nature aren't they? I love finding these little jewels.

  14. Pretty image and true words except the last part is not realistic. Many people never find real love. Then again, when I was young, it was very hard to be yourself as a female without finding yourself in danger.

  15. A whole lotta truth here, Denise.
I used to try too hard to gain people's approval of me. Now, at 61, I don't give a damn anymore.
    Life is too short!
