KIND WORDS WILL...

"Kind words will unlock an iron gate,
a helping hand will open the door beyond."

~Author Unknown~

Continuing with looking back, I found this pretty gate and doorway from one of the small towns in Florida, along with part of the cut-out wooden fencing. I wish I had paid more attention but as this was a private residence, I didn't feel I should stay too long. Unfortunately, I didn't make a note where it was. They had many quaint looking homes in the towns we traveled through.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE - A BEST FRIEND - FOR THE HORSE LOVERS OUT THERE

I found him on Dartmoor in Devonshire many years ago. He was a friendly enough fellow but I didn't get too close because they roam free on the moors and are semiferal (my camera had a zoom lens). You can read more about them at this link.  Horses/ponies and their ilk are beautiful animals! I don't get a chance to be around them that often, so these memories that I have of my short time with them, are treasured memories.

FOR THE LOVE OF CHILDREN

"Teaching Your Child Through Play"

I tried to teach my child with books
He gave me only puzzled looks.

I tried to teach my child with words.
They passed him by often unheard.

Despairingly, I turned aside.
"How shall I teach this child?" I cried.

Into my hand he put the key,
"Come," he said, "play with me."

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

THERE ARE FAIRIES ABOUT...

We call them faerie. We don't believe in them. Our loss.

And as the seasons come and go,
Here's something you might like to know.
There are fairies everywhere,

Under bushes, in the air,
Playing games just like you play
Singing through their busy day.

So listen, touch and look around,
In the air and on the ground.
And if you watch all nature's things,
You might just see a fairy's wing.

~Author Unknown~

My photos of the fairies were taken in the San Diego Botanical Garden many years ago (maps above showing its location). The middle photo is blurry, but I noticed that I had caught a little hummingbird in frame. It is in the left of the photo, slightly above and to the side of the fairy's left wing, sitting on a branch. I was visiting the children's garden at the time, having walked all over the other areas and needing a rest. Keeping still and very quiet is a wonderful way to take everything in, and to see what little birds might appear, as in this case the hummingbird.

I had the place all to myself. The whole garden was very quiet and the only occasional person I came across was one of the volunteer gardeners. It took about an hour to get there driving north, and it was the first time I had used GPS.

We actually lived in San Diego for many years back in the 80's, as I have mentioned before on other posts. I was looking forward to visiting with old friends.

On this occasion I had gone along on one of Gregg's business trips and we hadn't thought of getting GPS up to that point, but he didn't want me getting lost. We were late to the party, but I took to it like a duck to water and my adventures began, starting with the botanical garden. A lovely memory and another place I would like to get to again one day.

Thanks for looking and

I hope you day will be great.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE - IF EVER YOU SHOULD NEED ME...

"If ever should you need me
Just take a walk outside,
And cast your thoughts upon the winds
And watch the Cardinals fly."

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY, AND A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO ANN

I am wishing all my friends A Happy Mother's Day, with a special thank you to Ann who sent me one of her very special homemade creations. So beautiful Ann! I always love to receive them, and very much appreciate your friendship. These will always be kept in my box of special treasures.

 Excuse This House

Some houses try to hide the fact
That children shelter there.
Ours boasts it quite openly,
The signs are everywhere.

For smears are on the windows,
Little smudges are on the doors.
I should apologize I guess
For toys strewn on the floor.

But I sat down with my child
And we played and laughed and read,
And if the doorbell doesn’t shine,
His eyes will shine instead.

For when at times I’m forced to choose
The one job or the other,
I’d like to cook and clean and scrub,
But first I’ll be a Mother.

YOU KNOW YOU HAVE MADE...

We chatted to a special person this week and did a 'remember when', with moments shared from our younger years.  This was long before I met my Dear Other Half, but he joined in as we transitioned to memories from childhood.

It was such an enjoyable conversation, and I was still thinking about all those memories the next day. My creativity gene kicked in and I started playing on paint shop pro, and also found graphics on pixabay.com. It incorporates the interest I have for clothing down through the ages. Looking back I would have enjoyed working in the costume department at a theater. I had met someone who was very involved with a local theater group and I was being encouraged to join, but then I met someone else who became the love of my life, and here I am.  Different forks in the road and all that, one I was very happy to travel along.

This photo is a place we go to often and have shared several times. Because I enjoy being around animals, the dogs and cats had to go in. It would have gotten a bit too crowded with any wildlife. Another put-together picture in the future I'm thinking.

I found the saying online but there was no author attached.

I hope your week has gone well. Thank you for calling as often as you do. I only wish I could fix you a proper cup of tea, or coffee, so that you could tell me about your own childhood memories.

Here's a virtual cuppa instead.

Happy Thursday!

COURAGE…

Courage doesn't always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet voice
at the end of the day saying,
"I will try again tomorrow."

HAPPY SPRING EVERYONE!

Good Morning my friends
I just wanted to say
I hope you all have
A beautiful day

And as the sun
Rises in the sky
The clouds I see
Are passing by

And on each cloud
A wish for you
That you’ll enjoy
All that you do

And know you are loved
In every way
I hope you all have
A Beautiful Day.
