I ROLLED MY EYES TO THE SKIES…

I was trying to get photos of Hooded Mergansers, so excited to see them. I had taken a few with my iPhone but when I tried the larger camera, as I sometimes do, I was having great difficulty focusing, even more than usual. I handed it over to Gregg and he discovered why, the battery was dead. The spare was at home but at least I remembered to bring an extra memory card. Couldn’t use it of course.

That’s when I rolled my eyes to the skies.

Why? Because the Hooded Mergansers were swimming closer and closer and closer, and there lies the rub, or at least the dead battery!

That's the way it goes at times. This is a photo of a female merganser found on Pixabay. It's like looking in the mirror. I felt we had the same expression and immediately felt a kinship. “I understand!” I told her. Projecting?  No doubt!

Ah well, lesson learned  Don’t forget an extra battery to go along with that extra memory card.

I'll have another post from our walk soon. We were at Huntley Meadows a couple of days ago and we did get several photos.  It was not the sunniest of days, but it was a fabulous walk. If you would like to browse through our last trip in September for a refresher on what the park is like, you can click on this link.

Thanks for dropping by and enjoy your day.

  5. I can so relate to that. I've either left memory card or spare battery at home and gotten nothing for pictures. I like the photo you have here.

  6. I know how you feel. It's frustrating. Several months ago I was taking my garbage out to the garbage can when an eagle quickly flew over head. We never see something like that. It quickly disappeared and I have nothing but a memory.

    1. Thank you Sandra, it was a bit of a downer but being surrounded by such beautiful nature, it didn’t take long to shake it off, and then those turkeys appeared, almost as if to say, we are here for you. Such a gift they were :)

  10. I have that happen more times than I want to admit. I just found my extra battery last week after losing it for a year. Guaranteed that it will be dead when I finally need it.

    1. That sounds familiar :) I was going through my old computer bag, the one I take with me on road trips and found a few things I hadn’t set eyes on in quite a while :) always the way.
