THE HAPPY HUMMINGBIRD

Yesterday we had a lovely visitor and were able to take a few photos.  For about a week now I thought I had seen a hummingbird paying a lot of attention to the red bells. I wasn't able to get any photos as it didn't hang around long enough.  I had not seen one out there at all until we added the planters outside with the Honeysuckle Fuchsia.  I will be on the lookout now and hopefully it will return.  These photos are not as sharp as I would like but I am very happy I have a memory of its visit.  It was 1.44 p.m. in the afternoon, and the sunlight was bright, and very hot. Does anyone know what kind of hummingbird we have here?  Thanks in advance for an ID?

I think I have identified this as a female Ruby throated a Ruby throated hummingbird.  I found one that looked like it at this website.

    there was a time in my life that honeysuckle perfume was my favorite. can't remember the brand of the exact name. I love and loved honeysuckle except now i have scent allergies and I start to cough and hack even walking by a bush in someones yard. that hummer is darling. sorry no idea the ID

    You got amazing photos!!! I believe it to be a Ruby Throated, as they are the most common around here. It is the males that have the red throats.

    I think your photos are great, Denise. How wonderful you were able to capture her. Yes, I'm pretty sure she is a ruby throated hummingbird. I hope she returns to entertain you! Love your fuchsia honeysuckle. So pretty and so tasty for your hummer!

      Thank you so much Martha Ellen, and yes I was very lucky. She hovered a couple of minutes longer this time, more reaction time and dearly hoping she will return :) We are very happy with the fuchsia honeysuckle. It seems to be thriving.
