Yesterday we were at the garden and met Mr. Joe. His very nice human told us he was totally blind but that he liked to get out and have a walk around.
Joe seemed a happy little dog, well-loved and taken care of.
They live close by and this was their daily walk. I told Gregg later if we lived near here, I would be at the garden every day too.
It was very nice meeting Joe and his human. Mr. Human said he's called Mr. Joe but you can just call him Joe.
So nice to meet you Joe, and Joe's human.

DeleteHe looks like a long-haired Dachshund. Did you find out how he got blind? I have heard the saying that you can tell how good a person is by how they treat animals. I kind of agree.

ReplyDeleteMr Joe is definitely a long haired Dachshund, having had one as a family pet for many years, I recognised it as a Long haired Dachshund immediately and feel so sorry Mr Joe is blind. It's owner seems like a caring person and knows the benefit of walking his lovely dog so it gets exercise and can enjoy the smells along the way. The garden is beautiful, and having a chat with a dog lover is one of the joys my late hubby and I have experienced often as we walked our dogs and even formed friendships with the owners of their dog. Bless you for stopping and having a word with the nice man, as reaching out to strangers is often rewarding, as you discovered with the sales person who knocked at your door. I enjoyed reading about it, and also enjoyed this encounter.

Even though we have none ourselves now, I grew up with animals around me, and always dogs right up until 15 years ago when we lost our own beloved pup. I like your description of reaching out to strangers, it is often as you say, very rewarding. All the best to you too my friend :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Jim and Barb, on first thought, yes Poor Joe, but his other senses have probably been heightened and he sees the world through them. Unless we stepped into his feet, I suppose we will never know how he truly feels. I am so glad he has a kind human who takes care of him.
