GREEN SPRING GARDENS - PART 1 - 1/12/24 - A SHORT VIDEO OF US

I found these sweet, bedraggled birds at pixabay.com, a familiar name as it is my go-to place when I want to find a particular picture or graphic.
The last time we were at Green Spring Gardens was on October 1st, 2023. We were still wearing light clothing with short sleeves. It was a very different story last Friday. Our video will give you an idea of what the weather was like. It was cold! 50 degrees Fahrenheit which we would have thought would be good walking weather, but there was a biting wind that made it seem much colder.
So far this year we have had good days but also heavy rain with flood watches, wind and yesterday our first snow. We didn’t leave the house.  The high was 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and the low tonight will be 27.  Below it shows you what we are expecting for the next eight days.  I just had a pop-up on my iPad. We are now under a winter advisory until 10.a.m. tomorrow.  However, on Wednesday it is going to be sunny.  We were told before that was going to be a snow day. Weather will always be unpredictable.

We like to take a short video on our outings.  It’s fun to look at them years later.  Next time I will share a few flowers and plants. Some were still blooming, though looking a bit worn out. A nice splash of color though considering the time of year.

I hope you are staying warm in your part of the world,
or if it is very hot, staying cool.

    1. Thank you Sue, it's even colder now but when I think of hubby's relatives in North Dakota with it being -30 degrees F. with a strong wind, it's all relative :) and I try not to be such a namby-pamby.

  7. I will take your weather, Denise. It looks like we won’t get out of the teens here, until Sunday. I enjoyed your video. It even brought Bob into the living room from the kitchen. He asked me “who is that?” My response “friends from Virginia”. He said “they look cold”. Haha

    1. That conversation with Bob definitely gave me a chuckle. Thank you Linda :) The high is 36 degrees F. today, we have snow on the ground and more tomorrow. I saw your snow, more than us in that area also. Stay warm!

    1. Thanks Sandra, we were sitting on one of the benches. I was holding the iPhone, which is what I always use for our videos. If it had gone on any longer I would have handed it over to Gregg.

    1. I agree, I am usually happier behind the lens, not in front of it, but we do these for our son so he can look back at them in the years ahead. How I would have loved this technology in my parents day.

  16. Hello…thank you so much for your comments on my blog. We are in the middle of a cold snap here in South Devon! Today, I think was the coldest day at minus 1 C. I think it’s due to warm up a little but it’s far too cold to do anything in the garden! It’s what I call, ‘ Casseroles and Soups’ time! Keep warm and snug, Denise! And a happy new year to you too. Sal 😁

  18. I loved your video! You were brave to go out in that windy weather although you were well wrapped up. We had stormy weather last week. It can be changeable here in Yorkshire and we're still expecting snow. Take care you and Gregg.

    1. Very happy you did Linda, thank you :) I always think about all the people who have to go out in this weather. It's a lot chillier since our video. When we first moved to Washington DC 45 plus years ago, there were a couple of years before moving on, I got a part-time job in Washington DC. I used to catch the bus every day for a long time, in the middle of winter. I thought the job would be a good way of getting used to my new home. The snow drifts were massive, but the roads were clear. At this stage of my life I am glad I no longer have to go out when the weather is bad. I would be in big trouble if I did as I was always falling on ice even back then. I have since found out about good-traction on my shoes but even so. You and Mr. P. stay warm out of the weather :)

  19. That was a sweet video, Denise & Gregg, and you certainly did look a bit chilly and windblown despite wearing a hooded jacket. We also have had a lot of windy days and about 3-inches of snow on Tuesday followed by temps in the teens and 20s so we will not be out walking for a while. My walking is indoors on the gym treadmill!

    1. Thank you Dorothy, sweet of you to say :) I have enjoyed your wintry photos. Stay warm and inside. Walking on the gym treadmill sounds like a great idea.

  20. Delightful video. I keep a spare hat in the car so that I’m not caught without one. It has a brim too, so that I can shade my eyes when driving home in the sunshine. That winter sun is terribly bright and late afternoon and sunglasses are not enough.
