SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - THEY WENT WHERE?

Here's a clue!

The man of the house and his brother drove to Baltimore and had a great time watching the Baltimore Orioles play the Houston Astros. They said it was a fun game and their team won. Here's information on that iconic song, along with the lyrics here, and an actual video of the Sesame Street Gang singing it. If the video disappears you can find it at this link.

That's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.
I hope you enjoy singing along.
Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all
a very happy month of May.
Let’s play ball!

Take me out with the crowd.”

Cracker Jack, I don’t care if
I never get back.”

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER ON 4-25-26 - NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH

Yes, Froggies3 are the new co-Captains of the Neighborhood Watch. They stood in line to volunteer and look out for the safety of all the birds that visit our garden and beyond. A big thank you to Froggies3, and all the volunteers out there who help their communities.

And that's how it goes on

a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

Wishing you all a great weekend.

and thanks for stopping by!

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - CUPCAKE?

That's an old groaner, even the house finch is flinching.

In the imagination of 'she of the house', the cupcake is made of all good things that the birds like to eat.

That's how it goes on a Saturday morning at the bird feeder.

Have a great day, thanks for visiting
and from the both of us,
a big thank you!

"She didn't say but I noticed she had the fire extinguisher nearby."

birthday wishes for Mr's Birthday."

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER AND HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I received Ann's happy mail a few days ago, but with Valentine's Day coming up soon, I decided to keep it for today, on the 14th. Always a happy day to get one of your cards in the mail Ann. Thank you so much!

I wish you and everyone out there A Very Happy Valentine's Day!

I'm sure you'll all agree, this is a beautiful card. I have quite a collection of them now, and it will be going into my special box of Ann's treasured keepsake cards after having it on display for a week or so.

Now onto what's been going on around here at the Bird Feeder. Those birds have been all of a dither with the latest news. Please enlarge to read all the photos for a closer look if needed.

(WD-40 explained below)

Now they smell to high heaven of peppermint every time they get out of the car! There are some very strange looks in their direction. The car will be getting some cosmetic maintenance very soon.

Tomorrow I am sharing a Saturday to Saturday journal, and more of this mouse story will be in there.

And that's how it's going on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder!

Thanks for visiting and
I hope you all have a great weekend.

"Did you hear about the ruckus? A mouse got in the house.

"I heard it was the car."

"It chewed a big hole in the boot that holds the gear shift."

"Uh-oh!"

"It was me. It gets very cold out there. I need a warm place to nest."

Photo 2:

"Mouse, what are you doing down there. You're not chewing a hole in our feeder are you?"

"Errr...no, Of course I'm not."

"He's telling a lie. I know about these things."

Photo 3:

"I read that WD-40 works great for keeping mice out of a car. It didn't work, he's still here."

"At least he's not squeaking any more."

Photo 4:

"Camera Lady's husband put peppermint spray on cotton wool balls."

(WD-40 is a versatile, petroleum-based spray famous for its ability to displace water, prevent rust, lubricate moving parts, penetrate stuck components and clean surfaces. It also takes those sticky labels off your cups and saucers and anything similar. It is essentially a “toolkit in a can” designed for a wide array of maintenance tasks. For our overseas friends you probably have your equivalent. I got this little bit of info from Google.)

Added note: I found this information from the company’s website.

In 1953, a fledgling company called Rocket Chemical Company and its staff of three, set out to create a line of rust-prevention solvents and degreasers for use in the aerospace industry. Working in a small lab in San Diego, California, it took them 40 attempts to get the water displacing formula worked out. But they must have been really good, because the original secret formula for WD-40 Multi-Use Product - which stands for Water Displacement perfected on the 40th try - is still in use today.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - SPIKE IS BACK

One spoiled little bird said "Nuh-uh!"

Unlike my little friend here who loves his birdseed.

and true to her word...

You never know birdies!

Not sure how long the snow is going to last. There will be 60 mile per hour winds so I hear, sometime in the middle of the night. Stay safe everyone!

Of course, putting the kettle on right now. And the mixing bowl is out. Just put the oven on to bake those cookies you like. Come on in, pull up a chair!

I wish you all a great weekend.

ODDS AND BODS - 12/23/25 - THE COMFY RABBITS ARE HERE

Good morning everyone! How are you?

1.

Here I am in my woollies, and a cup of tea is warming me up nicely, but I have really got to get moving.

2.

I’m getting there but first…

3.
(Further: pronounced "OH-lay-loo. It is a beautiful Finnish word describing a state of calm, unhurried relaxation, simply existing in the moment without agenda or pressure to do something; it's about embracing stillness, serenity and being present, often through quiet activities like reading or enjoying a cup of tea. It comes from the Finnish verb "oleilla" meaning "to be,: and reflects a cultural appreciation for mindful, intentional downtime, a contrast to a constantly busy world.)

In my land of dreams today, I would dearly love to hug my brother the grizzly bear.
4.

and poking a little fun at myself here.
5.

Very important!
6.

From my all-time favorite poet.
7.

A gift from hubs for our Christmas tree, from the garden center I shared about, a lovely surprise to find it after we got home. He saw me looking at it. What do you know, they had a tree full of bird ornaments too. Maybe after the holidays to see what's on sale? That's always fun!
8.

And here he is, now on our tree. I'm calling him Gilbert the Canada Goose.
9.

10.

And something else for the birds. Did you know?
11.

And
12.

Well, I don’t actually live in the woods, would  love to and…

13.

14.

15.

And to finish off...for all of you.

16.

And there you go.  I hope you enjoyed.

Have a wonderful day!
Thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.

For our international friends to translate, below each image I have added a number. Below I have the words on that particular image, in case you would like to translate any of them. I have also numbered photos with no words, just for continuity.

1.
No words.

2.
No words.

3.
Oleilu: a calm, unhurried state of simply being, not about doing, achieving, or planning, but the quiet act of existing in the moment.

4.
No words.

5.
Sometimes I talk to myself. Then we both laugh and laugh.

6.
"When you think of everyone you love..." said the fox, "I hope you include yourself."

7.
"Let me keep my distance,
always, from those who think
they have the answers.

Let me keep company
always with those who say
"Look!"
and laugh in astonishment,
and bow their heads."

~Mary Oliver~

8.
No words.

9.
No words.

10.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to go.
Though the fields lay golden,
Someone whispered, -- 'snow'.
Leaves were green and stirring,
Berries luster glossed,
But beneath warm feathers
Something cautioned, - 'frost!'
All the sagging orchards steamed
With amber spice but each wild
Breast stiffened at remember, - 'ice'.
Something told the wild geese
It was time to fly, -
Summer sun was on their
Wings, winter in their cry.

(1934)

11.
Brainy Little Birdies!
Chickadees can remember 1,000 + hiding spots!
Each winter, they stash seeds all over and can recall nearly every location months later. That's a memory trick most humans wish they had.

12.
Cut the Fall (Autumn) Cutback
Those 'dead' seed heads are a buffet for migrating birds. Leave them standing and your garden becomes a free winter bird feeder.

13.
The older I get, the more I understand why people live in the woods and talk to squirrels.

14.
So she’s like, GET OFF THE COUNTER” and I’m like “Do I look like I am taking orders?”

Thank you for being a generous soul and a beautiful spirit in a world that could use a million like you. Thanks so much for everything you have done, and for all that you continue to do.  You’re the best and you’re appreciated more than I can say.
