I CONFESS...

I stalked her in the grocery store: her crown
of snowy braids held in place by a great silver clip,
her erect bearing, radiating tenderness...
beaming peace like the North Star.
I wanted to ask, "What aisle did you find
your serenity in, do you know
how to be married for fifty years or how to live alone,
excuse me for interrupting, but you seem to possess
some knowledge that makes the earth turn and burn on its axis…"
But we don't request such things from strangers
nowadays. So I said, "I love your hair."

"I Confess"

    1. I'm so glad you enjoyed the poem Sandra. I'm a poem nut and read them like a mystery novel :) Yes, I created the lady in AI. I used my prompts from key words in the poem, got several but this one was my favorite. I liked the expression on her face most of all, and that hair! It just seemed to pair so beautifully with Alison's words.

  9. I've seen people that inspire such thoughts. What an insightful remarkable poem expressing how little of what we are actually thinking is said.
