SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - SHE TRIES THIS, SHE TRIES THAT...

Fussy birds!  Large seeds, small seeds, fruits and nuts. Is the weather too cold for them today?  Is it too hot?  Is she overthinking again?  Probably!

And so it goes on a Saturday morning at the bird feeder.

Wishing you all a great weekend my friends
and thanks for stopping by.

  1. I love the Naughty Boy Squirrel, that is my favorite. So sorry about the new food! Have you tried the wild bird store? Are you still using the camera?

    1. Thanks Ginny, no I haven’t tried the wild bird store. I have been reading up on articles on what birdseed attracts different kinds of birds, and have always bought the no mess kind :) I haven’t been using the trail cam for a while, I need to sort that out.

  3. Love these. Those squirrels are so cute. Too bad about the birds not liking the new birdseed.

    1. Thanks Ann, I think there may be signs. For the first time in ages I saw a female cardinal eating the seed in the larger feeder below. Fingers crossed :)

  13. It's amazing how fussy the birds can be!
A few months ago we put some nuts out and they were obviously not a favoured variety as they 'hung around' much longer than normal. Back to seeds and suet balls and everyone came visiting again. Lovely :)

    Enjoy your weekend.

    All the best Jan

    1. That's interesting Jan, do you make your own suet balls by any chance? I have seen recipes I was thinking of making but who knows it those fussy birds will eat them, lol! Still, it might be worth a try. Happily we had several feathered friends visit today and they seemed to be enjoying the new birdseed finally :) All the best to you too and enjoy your evening and the week ahead.

    2. Hello Denise, you asked do we make our own suet balls.
I know many folks do, but no we don't... we get them from a local garden
      centre.

      All the best Jan

  16. So cute!! Whenever we got a new kind of seed for our feeders (in our 'olden days') it would sit for a few days untouched and then it seemed like the usual birds would send a scout to test it out. One bird at a time for a few days before they would all come again. Bill thought they were like the King's tasters in medieval times. If that bird survived the rest of them would start to come.

  17. Hello Denise :=)
What a fun post,:=) you are very good at making birds and squirrel pictures talk. Birds can be fussy, and mine only have a preference for sunflower seeds and peanuts. I bought Nijer seeds once, and a mixture of various seeds but they didn't touch them.Portugal doesn't have much in the way of wild bird seed,...for canary's
there is plenty of choice, but that's all. People don't usually feed birds in this country.Thank you for making me smile.:=)

    1. Happy you think so Sonjia, I try my best, some days it comes easier than others :) Thank you for sharing your birdseed choices. I have been trying to find the right blend. I feed them in the winter when food is scarce. When the warmer months arrive there is plenty in nature that sustains them.
