Oatlands on April 21st (2019), the sky was glorious. Just couldn't capture it all in a photo, but I gave it a good try.

In the photo above you can see the Old Stone House, which is on part of the Manassas Civil War Battleground. The photos below were taken in Leesburg (Virginia) after our visit to the plantation. I found this website that tells its history.
I always enjoy looking at the old homes in historical areas.
I couldn't find out much about them...
but saw a very brief comment about the old log cabin built in 1763.
There is a museum that I would like to visit next time. Maybe I can get more information.
Who walked through that door and looked out of the window I wonder?
The last photo is of one of the side streets leading down to the main road.

The clouds really are the star of this incredible post. And it does look like someone is peeking out of the window...a bit unsettling! Perhaps it it just the way the curtain is hanging.

DeleteI have friends with an old log cabin in a similar style. They chose to keep it as a guest house and build a new cottage beside it.

DeleteWhile hitch hiking one time I rode with a couple with two little kids. For much of my time with them they looked at clouds to see forms. I often wonder what happened to these kids. I'm sure their imaginations were better than most .

Hi John, thank you. The skies were just begging for me to photograph them. The prettiest I had seen in a long time. The Old Stone House is one of my favorite landmarks around here, with lots of lovely walks around it.

DeleteThe clouds are amazing, Denise. They add drama to your other photos especially that one of the Old Stone House. I hope you find out more information about the history of who lived in the houses. It looks as if they have been beautifully restored.
