The above reads:
"From the troubles of the world I turn to ducks, beautiful, comical things."

The quote I used comes from a wonderful poem that can be seen in full at this link.
Frederick William Harvey, DCM (March 26, 1888 - February 13, 1957) was born in Hartpury, Gloucestershire, UK. Often known as Will Harvey, he was an English poet, broadcaster and solicitor. His poetry became widely popular during and after World War I.
You can read more about him if you click on his name below the quote.
I had never heard of him before!
ReplyDeleteIt is good that everyone translates the sufferings of the world into what they can bear!! Good morning Denis!!
Oh my goodness!! I read the entire poem and loved it! I knew I would, as you always find the best poems and the kind that I love. One thing the poem talks about is how defenseless they are, and we have always said that! That is one of their most endearing things. Seems there are not very animals without some form of defense.
ReplyDeleteThat's lovely! I don't often heard of praises on ducks...this is nice.
ReplyDeleteHe was quoted in one of my favourite (and often reread) series by Miss Read. The little things are hugs in my world.
ReplyDeleteDucks are always cute to follow
ReplyDeleteCan't sleep. So here I am reading and giggling about ducks. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love that poem.
ReplyDeleteNice quote and it fits perfectly with the photo.
ReplyDeleteI was unfamiliar with either the poet or the poem and am better for having made their acquaintance.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the poem and your duck photo. Some ducks do look comical.
Thank goodness for nature to enjoy while we have it. Keeps me calm.
