A DOG POST TODAY

This is one of those posts I found in my draft folder. We found these lovely dogs in Williamsburg, Virginia, a few years ago.

Two young ladies in colonial costumes were very taken with this lovely dog, as was the little girl.

A Welsh Terrier enjoying a walk .

Liberty Dog - a cardboard cutout - was welcoming skaters to the ice-skating rink in the middle of the town (it was in the winter when we visited).

This young dog's ears were standing at attention, but he seemed happy and content.

There were many more dogs enjoying a walk with their human companions.  It was a lovely day for walking.

I will leave you with one quote I found from Ogden Nash.  It made me smile.

"A door is what a dog is perpetually on the wrong side of."

  1. ha ha, know all about the wrong side of the door.. love all these pretty pups. the cardboard looks real, if you had not said what it is, would have thought it was a dog

    1. I bet you do :) The cardboard dog was stuck on the plexiglass fence surrounding the ice rink.

  2. Awww.
Love that quote - which applies equally (if not more so) to cats.

  3. Hi Denise,
Wonderful set of images of some lovely dogs.
The first dog appears to be a Golden Retriever, a breed I am very involved with as Vice Chairman of the breed.
Golden Retrievers are always on the wrong side of the door or they think they are.
    All the best, John

  4. You wonder what the dogs think of the traditional clothing- or the scents of a blacksmith shop, which would definitely be outside their everyday experience.

  12. I love going to festivals and things where dogs are allowed. It is so cool to see. I can’t include Dakota however cause he is worse than a nervous cat in a room of rocking chairs. He is my Sheldon ( Big Bang theory) dog.....set in his ways, odd and not at all easy to get along with.
