Hello Family and Friends! Back again with this week's weekly happenings. Thanks for letting me know you still enjoy them. It will keep these going, for a while at least. I hope you've all had a good week.
Monday, January 20th, 2025 - 1.39 p.m: Gregg went out got himself a bagel with cream cheese from our local bagel shop again. He bought one for me, having gone to the supermarket before coming home.
After I woke up and before I got out of bed, I did two of my daily exercises with the Pilate ball. I paused for breakfast as the man arrived home, and exercises were completed afterwards.
In late afternoon, early evening, we usually chat about current events. We both have our strong opinions and it's always good to air them. We agree on most things, but sometimes disagree, while staying quite cool about it all, giving our reasons why we disagree with the other. We are both avid readers and keep up with what's going on here and around the world, quite often saving snippets of news and talking about them later. Truthfully, Gregg is more knowledgeable in many areas. If I feel very strongly about something, I am a bit stubborn and hold my own.

I had a short walk at Green Spring Gardens today, but I already shared on this post.
I didn't take many photos, except for what I have shown already, and more berries!
Thursday, January 30th 2025: and I am playing catch up as I was really bad at keeping my journal going this week. I stopped after Monday for a few days, and now I'm trying to remember.
Dear other half met up with his old buddy today for lunch. It's a drive to get there, about an hour-and-a-half, but always enjoyable for him. He arrived home 5 o'clock-ish. I enjoy my quiet time, pottered, read, pottered some more, read some more, looked at the birds off and on all day, pottered. My day went quickly. Word of the day: "pottered!"
Friday, January 31st 2025: it is 9.16 a.m. and I have a 10.30 a.m. appointment for my physiotherapy. I have to be there for 10.15.
I am back and it is 12:39 p.m. There was a 12-year old with a sports injury today, a young girl. When she got on that exercise bicycle she rode like the wind. Me, not so much! Let's just say it felt like a 3-chocolate brownie day today, but stopped at one.
On the way home our son and daughter-in-law called. They were on their way back from somewhere and wanted to tell us about it. We had a fun time talking to them both. Very happy we had the opportunity of chatting with our dear daughter-in-law for a good length of time. She has a truly delightful humor. Their hours of work vary and when son calls, she is usually working, and vice versa.
Today I drew a dinosaur! This is thanks to Jan at The Low Carb Diabetic. She has a post here that talks about “Draw A Dinosaur Day”. I'm a bit late but it put the idea in my head and here is mine. Thanks Jan!
Pretty rudimentary but it entertained me for a while. I have to slow down as I draw too fast, need to be more patient. (Hmmm, sounds like a song I know.) I forgot to add a leg! Just getting used to holding a pencil in my hand again. Here is Dino with the cat I drew last week.
We made a stir-fry for dinner. Neither of us liked it very much, even though we have made stir-fries before. We added a can of stir-fry vegetables and the whole meal had an after-taste, completely took away from the rest of the fresh vegetables. Not the kind of after-taste that would make us feel ill, but not what we are used to. It was not very pleasant. Gregg found the can in the pantry and quite rightly thought we could use it. There was something about the brine. It would have been a good idea to drain the can and rinse the veggies before putting them in with everything else. But there you go, we live and learn and both agreed, never buying that again.
Saturday, February 1st, 2025: not much of note going on today. Very quiet!
We made a new recipe. Thankfully this one was very good. I will put it on one of my recipe posts. It was seafood.
Sunday, February 2nd, 2025: son came over. Always enjoy catching up with his week.
Later in the day Fluffy Kitty turned up. She was sitting on the steps looking around. I wondered why the birds disappeared! She is definitely someone’s cat. With all the cold weather, we haven’t seen her for a few weeks. She stayed on those steps, turned a few times when she heard me talking to her. I left her alone and when I looked again half an hour later, she was gone. Hopefully back in her nice warm house.
Nothing of note for the rest of the day, and will end my journal here.
Have a great rest of the week,
and thanks for stopping by.
So did you draw the dinosaur and cat free-hand, or was it like tracing? They are so good, I could never draw something like this!! I'm glad to see that Fluffy Kitty is alive and well.
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, thank you and yes it was free-hand. I was glad to see her back too. I kept looking out for her all through that freezing cold weather and was relieved when she finally turned up :)
DeleteThose berries are amazingly bright..what are they?
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting my blog..I’m glad that I made you laugh! 😂
I enjoyed visiting Sal, and thanks again for such a good laugh. You have a great sense of humor. According to my plant app this is a Chinese Holly native to China and Korea. Thanks for asking. I always need to refresh my memory :)
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI hope your therapy is helping and your back to normal soon.
I love your dinosaur and the kitty. You did great!
I love brownies, one of my favorite treats.
Take care, have a great day!
Thank you Eileen, I appreciate that :) Brownies are a favorite treat aren’t they? You take care and have a great day too.
DeleteI like your dinosaur - he's splendid.
ReplyDeleteThank you Janice, I am happy you think so :)
DeleteWe enjoy our stir fries very much, but use only fresh vegetables. As far as I can recall, other than corn niblets, we have never bought canned vegetables. That’s not true. We buy canned tomatoes to make pasta sauce.
ReplyDeleteHello David, adding those canned stir fry vegetables was a one-off. We use fresh vegetables for most things though like you we buy canned tomatoes and tomato sauce sometime for pasta sauce but also for soup. We do enjoy cream-style corn also.
DeleteI am really good at stick figures but pale compared to your drawing!
ReplyDeleteRE: PT. Balance is a huge thing to work on as we get older. I'm sure that is why you get to crab walk!
That bush with the red berries looks like a version of Holly! Very bright and very beautiful!
That’s such a nice compliment Val, thank you :) yes, I figured the crab walk was for balance, and much needed. I hope to not need the wall soon. I looked the berry bush up for Sal. It is a Holly as you said. We have holly bushes on one side of our house and they are as tall as this one but a different type. We get them trimmed every year.
DeleteIt's wonderful when two people can discuss things and agree to disagree. Wouldn't it be a boring world if we all thought the same?
ReplyDeleteYour drawings are fabulous. That dinosaur looks just like the Pixabay one. You are very talented.
Ann, I am feeling jealous over the drawing, are you?
DeleteGregg taught me how to debate, literally. We enjoy a good back and forth. I was never used to it at one time and avoided such things but now it’s just part of our daily discussion. He and our son are the same. Thanks Ann, I appreciate how much you like my drawings. Coming from you and as talented as you are, I am really chuffed you think so :)
DeleteSandra, absolutely no need to be, I have seen your creativity at work as well as Ann’s and you two are rock stars :)
Deletebob and I have never agreed on anything, we do both like hamburgers, but even on that, we like them in different fast food places. we do agree to never eat McDonalds. we have spent 40 years arguing about any and all and everything. and we both hold our ground, so it makes it hard. but we both get over it quickly.
ReplyDeleteI think he is wrong and he thinks I am wrong..
I need to get a few veggies to do a stir fry, but am waiting on test results, he said he would start me on a what he wants me to eat and probiotics or some such thing.
I am glad to read you and Bob get over it quickly. We all have our opinions, the test is will it drive us apart? If the answer is no, then having a difference in opinion is a good thing. We can learn from each other.
DeleteNice drawings of Dino and kitty.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that Linda, thank you :)
DeleteI really like your drawings, Denise. Fun. That is one healthy fluffy cat. We have feral cats around here. That's a typical country thing. They are not fluffy and friendly but it is always a treat to see them regardless. We also know they help to keep some pest populations down. :) Hope you have a great Tuesday!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellen, I am having fun drawing again. There is no sign of fluffy yet :) It is rare to see a cat outside. There don’t seem to be any feral cats around here. They are good at not letting rodents take over.
DeleteI think Dino is quite handsome! There's nothing like a bad aftertaste to ruin a meal. I'll also chime in on the berries...so pretty.
ReplyDeleteHappy you think so Sandra, on Dino and the berries, thank you :) yes, it’s horrible that after-taste.
DeleteOuch on the crab walk. That would get to me with an ouch. My knee problem is on the inside of right knee. Sideways motions are done very slowly.
ReplyDeleteWe had service on our CR-V yesterday. It was a long wait so we walked around the parking lot got in 2,900 steps. I'm an avid reader too always looking for new books/authors. I noticed a young lady reading Of Thorns and Roses (I think that was the name). I asked about it...she said (as you did about your stir fry) I wouldn't recommend it. She went on to tell me she had a mental deal with her self if she got 1/2 thru a book she would finish it. I told her if a book doesn't grab my attention after the first two chapters I give up. LOL
Hugs Cecilia
PS meant to tell you Bravo on the dino and kitty drawings. You are a budding artist
ReplyDeleteThank you Cecilia, I just hope Gregg doesn’t take a video, lol! Quickly add, he wouldn’t unless I asked him too. I am not going to, perish the thought :))) Good that you got your steps in. I am with you on those books. And thank you for the nice compliment, I really appreciate it :)
DeleteOh my, that is one absolustely gorgeous cat! I might have grabbed him and made him mine (not really). Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI am always tempted and tease Gregg that we should adopt her, and not really I tell him as he gives me a raised eyebrow:))) I am sure someone would miss her terribly if I did. You have a great week too Leslie.
DeleteFun drawing, I also was inspired by Jan's dinosaur post for upcoming art.
ReplyDeleteThat’s great Christine, I look forward to seeing yours. Jan set the ball rolling, and thanks again Jan :)
DeleteI haven't had a bagel w cream cheese in ages. Sounds good. Love the cat!
ReplyDeleteHi Carol! I don’t have them very often but they are oh so good. Me too on the cat :)
DeleteI clicked the link--wow! The Library of Congress has an amazing ceiling! I've never seen it before.
ReplyDeleteGlad the PT is going well. Balance is a thing that has changed a little over time for me, too.
Never heard of draw a dinosaur day. They have days for everything. I am a copier of simple drawings, too. I always do need something to look at. Maybe I don't have either enough imagination, talent, or memory of what things look like--ROFL! I really like yours. :)
That is one fluffy, cute kitty!
I am happy you enjoyed that Rita :) It is amazing inside and was quite a surprise to me when I first saw it. My balance has definitely declined. Hopefully these exercises will help. They certainly know what they are doing. The draw a dinosaur was new to me too. I am best at copying things and more detailed than if I did them from memory. I daresay you would be surprised at how much imagination and talent you have my friend and I thank you for liking mine. I agree on the kitty too :)
DeleteI want a bagel and cream cheese love the berry bush.
ReplyDeletewww.rsrue.blogspot.com
Me too right now Regine :) The berry bush was really pretty I agree. It certainly brightened up the garden with no flowers blooming.
DeleteI think your dinosaur looks great and thanks for the link back to the low carb diabetic blog. I also liked the cat too :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I am so glad you saw this Jan. I was going to visit and let you know how much you inspired me with your post. Thanks again my friend and all the best :)
DeleteLindo dinosaurio y lindo gato Me alegro de tu paseo. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias. Agradezco tu amable comentario. te mando un beso :)
DeleteYour drawings are good. The ceiling is just gorgeous at Library of Congress, thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteThank you and you are very welcome Margaret. I am glad you enjoyed the Library of Congress :)
