As someone told me when I experienced my first in America and a work colleague asked me where was my green, I replied with surprise, “But I’m not Irish.” Their reply was, "You don't have to be Irish to celebrate Saint Patrick's Day here. Today everyone is Irish", and as I looked around, sure enough, everyone was dressed in green. This was my introduction to Saint Patrick’s Day in the USA. I have tried to remember to wear the green ever since.
"For each petal on the shamrock, this brings a wish your way: Good health, good luck and happiness for today and every day."
~An Irish Blessing~
Thanks for stopping by and may the Luck of the Irish kiss you on the forehead, and remember, a good laugh and a long sleep are two best cures for anything. And I will leave with that Irish Proverb.
So are you wearing green Today? Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
ReplyDeleteA little bit Ginny :) Thank you, and the same to you :)
DeleteI'm part Irish but I rarely wear green on St. Patricks day. Of course for work I have to wear all black. Around here it's more of a drinking holiday. I pass on that kind of celebration.
ReplyDeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day.
No, I don't drink the green beer. I have a tot of sherry every now and again. I have extended Irish relatives in the family and maybe one ancestor. My celebrations are very quiet these days, not they were ever loud as not really a party-person :)
DeleteFaith and begorrah!
ReplyDeleteIndeed William ;)
DeleteHappy St. Patrick's Day! Take care, have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, you too :)

DeleteYes today everyone is Irish - have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteMay the road rise to meet you,
May the wind always be at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Irish Blessing
Sweet, thank you Carol :)
DeleteGreen beer all around on me!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds great, thank you Anni :)
DeleteI was born and raised in Savannah and nearly half the population is Irish, but you are right, everyone was Irish on St pat day. it is a big deal in that city and in Tampa. I don't wear green for the simple reason green is my least favorite color for clothing. I do have a blact tshirt with a clover on it
ReplyDeleteGreen is hubby's favorite color so there's been a lot of green around here over the years, lol! That clover is great for the day.
DeleteMerriest St. Patty's Day to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Pam, always appreciate the sentiment :)
DeleteI'm not Irish but have enough Irish friends that I celebrate a bit!
ReplyDeleteI always raise a glass to toast our Irish friends on Saint Patrick's Day :)
DeleteHappy St Paddy's!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine :)
DeleteYes, we are celebrating here even though we are not Irish. We are thankful for St. Patrick and his faith. Corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots due to start cooking on my stove-top about 2:30pm so it is ready for our kids when they arrive after their 6 hour journey here. Have a wonderful day, Denise.
ReplyDeleteVery much so and enjoy your meal with your kids. Sounds like another wonderful time is in store :)
DeleteSo true about laughter and a good sleep. David is Irish, but I am not. However, I have heard people say that Koreans are like the Irish. Don't know why.
ReplyDeleteThat's very interesting Gigi, and also interesting that it is David's heritage :) Always interesting to me to know where people originally came from around the world.
Deletewe are not irish, i don't think. we don't eat the traditional food today but i do have green on!! you don't need to be irish for that!! happy st. patrick's day!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you wearing your green Debbie, and that is a true statement, thank you :)
