"We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery, we need humanity. More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness."
Sir Charles Spencer Chaplin, KBE, (16 April 1889 – 25 December 1977) was an English comic actor, filmmaker, and composer who rose to fame in the era of silent film. He became a worldwide icon through his screen persona, the Tramp, and is considered one of the film industry's most important figures. His career spanned more than 75 years, from childhood in the Victorian era until a year before his death in 1977, and encompassed both adulation and controversy.
Amazing photo; like another planet. I did not know that Chaplin was also a composer!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ginny. That’s exactly what I thought when we saw it :) I learned a lot about Charlie Chaplain after I found this quote. He was quite a complex fellow. You can read his biography if you click on his name. It is quite a lengthy one.

DeleteBeautiful canyon and so true quote..
ReplyDeleteAgree on both counts Sandra :)
DeleteControversy?
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi, if you click on his name the link will take you to his biography. I knew something of the man but this was quite a read. I find a quote that I like first and then read up on that person. My father liked history and I remember us watching The Tramp on TV when I was young. He told me the family rated version :) Finding all these things about him many years later was quite a journey in itself.
DeleteBeautiful photo...
