SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER AND HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!

I received Ann's happy mail a few days ago, but with Valentine's Day coming up soon, I decided to keep it for today, on the 14th. Always a happy day to get one of your cards in the mail Ann. Thank you so much! 

I wish you and everyone out there A Very Happy Valentine's Day! 

I'm sure you'll all agree, this is a beautiful card. I have quite a collection of them now, and it will be going into my special box of Ann's treasured keepsake cards after having it on display for a week or so.

Now onto what's been going on around here at the Bird Feeder. Those birds have been all of a dither with the latest news. Please enlarge to read all the photos for a closer look if needed.

Now they smell to high heaven of peppermint every time they get out of the car! There are some very strange looks in their direction. The car will be getting some cosmetic maintenance very soon.

Tomorrow I am sharing a Saturday to Saturday journal, and more of this mouse story will be in there.

(WD-40 is a versatile, petroleum-based spray famous for its ability to displace water, prevent rust, lubricate moving parts, penetrate stuck components and clean surfaces. It also takes those sticky labels off your cups and saucers and anything similar. It is essentially a “toolkit in a can” designed for a wide array of maintenance tasks. For our overseas friends you probably have your equivalent. I got this little bit of info from Google.)

And they all had a jolly good time.  At the end, the Minutes read, "There will be no Oolong or Pomegranate Tea served at any of the bird group meetings.  The creek is just across the street which we can dip our beaks into afterwards.  There will also be no jokes told to distract us."  

"What about a glass of wine?" said Connor the Cardinal.

A resounding "Nope!" came the reply.

Being a bit of a rebel, Connor said to himself, “Well,  I am sure I can sneak some in every now and again, just to liven things up a bit.  I think this lot needs a little dancing on the tables occasionally.”  Connor was fun and everyone liked him, but he was a wee bit naughty and what you might call a lovable scoundrel.  We will have to keep an eye on him.

BIRD CAM IS UP FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MONTHS

 The Dear Man putting out birdseed.  Thank you Dear Man!  We moved the hanger pole nearer the camera.  I have to get new bird feeders as it's a double hanger.  The other was getting a bit worse for wear.

It was not 73 degrees Fahrenheit that day.  Our temperature gauge seems to be a bit off.   The House Finches were the first to feed.

Then a Crow.  Two or three usually turn up at a time.  

The Red-bellied Woodpecker appeared and startled the Finch.  Interesting effect on the wings here.

This cheeky little thing was next.  A bit blurry.

A Downy Woodpecker next.

A Cardinal and further along a Grey-slated Junco and a Finch.  The Junco turned up a couple of weeks ago.  They stay in this area until spring.

I am looking forward to a bit more sunshine.  It's been rather gray these last few days.  Even though the photos aren't as sharp as I would like, it feels good to have the bird cam up again.  It is always fun to see what appears when I download the photos, blur or no blur.

Has anyone had a problem downloading videos onto blogger?  I used to go through YouTube but I am wondering if you have to pay a subscription to download videos now as I can't seem to find how to do it.  The icon used to be right there on the page and it was easy. When I put my videos straight onto blogger, they don't seem to work.  I think I am doing it the right way.  I don't think it's operator error but won't rule it out, says I smiling.
