SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER

Froggy3 the 1st was worried about where he had parked his lily pad. Froggy3 the 3rd was also worried and thought Froggy3 the 1st should move it to be safe. Froggy3 the 2nd, who is in a perpetual state of not knowing, decided to say nothing, as did their visiting Black-capped Chickadee friend because she was already confused.

In the meantime, when Froggy3 the 1st decided to move his lily pad, he found that it was missing and went into his problem-solving mode.

And that's how it goes on
A Saturday Morning at the Birdfeeder,
where they are still searching for
the missing Lily Pad. I really do think
it was 'toad'. Groan if you wish but...

Thank you for flying in and...

For our overseas friends to translate photos by using the translation widget on my side-bar. There are several plays on words today.

Photo 1:

"What happens to illegally parked frogs?" "They get 'toad'."

Photo 2:

Another play on words. "I need someone to help me 'quack' the case and find out who has been 'robin' me.

Photo 3:

"Why are they groaning. It wasn't that bad."

Photo 4:

"That bird joke flew right over my head."

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER

Our Cardinal is a Quodophile, which is a popular slang term often used in online communities for a devoted lover of quotes.

And now we know that that's how it is going to go this week on another whimsical

Saturday Morning at the Birdfeeder...

because the woman of the house had no clue as to where this was going but the wise old owl below did apparently.

Thanks for groaning along with me

Have a great weekend!

For our international friends to read using the translation
widget on my sidebar.

Photo Cardinal says:

“Poor indeed is the garden in which birds find no home. Abram L. Urban said that.”

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER

Mr. Dove was a bit miffed but he is busy thinking up his next groaner now. It could be a while.

And that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

Take good care of yourselves, thanks for stopping by
and have a great weekend!

For our international friends if they want to translate photos.

1st Photo:
Who is this?
She says we are related. She brought him home the other day.
He doesn't say much.

2nd Photo:
Someone ought to offer him a cup of tea.
Which reminds me, I have a joke.
Please don't tell one of your groaners.

3rd Photo:
How do you ask a dinosaur in for a cup of tea?
Tea Rex?

4th Photo:
I heard that before.

5th Photo:
One of the best groaners you didn't get to tell Mr. Dove.

6th Photo:
Thank you, I feel more like myself now that I have had a cuppa.
Are we related? I feel like we are.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - ROCKIN' WHO?

If you want to hear the original version of Rockin' Robin, there's a great YouTube at this link.

The full lyrics are below, with thanks to all the good little birdies rockin' in the treetops.

Rockin’ Robin lyrics

Our key: Overtones

Other versions to check out: Bobby Day (arr. based on this one), Michael Jackson

Intro

Verse 1

He rocks in the treetops all day long, hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song

All the little birds on Jaybird Street love to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet

Chorus

Rockin' robin, Rock-rock-rockin' robin'

Go rockin' robin 'cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Verse 2

Every little swallow, every chick-a-dee, every little bird in the tall oak tree

The wise old owl, the big black crow flappin' their wings singin' "go bird, go"

Chorus

Rockin' robin, Rock-rock-rockin' robin'

Go rockin' robin 'cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Bridge

Well, the pretty little raven at the bird bandstand taught him how to do the bop and it was grand

They started going steady and bless my soul, he out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole

Verse 3 (same as 1)

He rocks in the treetops all day long hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song

All the little birds on Jaybird Street love to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet

Chorus

Rockin' robin, Rock-rock-rockin' robin'

Go rockin' robin 'cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Bridge

Well, the pretty little raven at the bird bandstand taught him how to do the bop and it was grand

They started going steady and bless my soul he out-bopped the buzzard and the oriole

KEY CHANGE

He out bopped-the buzzard and the oriole

Verse 4 (same as 1)

He rocks in the treetops all day long hoppin' and a-boppin' and singing his song

All the little birds on Jaybird Street love to hear the robin go tweet-tweet-tweet

Chorus

Rockin' robin, Rock-rock-rockin' robin'

Go rockin' robin 'cause we're really gonna rock tonight

Outro (like intro)

And that's the way it is on a
Saturday Morning at the Birdfeeder!
Thanks for flying in
and have a great weekend!

A POEM BY EMILY

The night is darkening round me,

The wild winds coldly blow;

But a tyrant spell has bound me

And I cannot, cannot go.

The giant trees are bending

Their bare boughs weighed with snow.

And the storm is fast descending,

And yet I cannot go.

Clouds beyond clouds above me,

Wastes beyond wastes below;

But nothing drear can move me;

I will not, cannot go.

Spellbound by Emily Brontë

Emily Jane Brontë (July 30th, 1818 to December 19th, 1848), was an English novelist and poet who is best known for her only novel "Wuthering Heights", now considered a classic of English literature. She also published a book of poetry with her sisters, Charlotte and Ann, titled Poems by Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell, with her own poems finding regard as poetic genius. Emily was the second-youngest of the four surviving Brontë siblings, between the youngest Ann and her brother Branwell. She published under the pen name Ellis Bell.

In her comment Ginny, our blogging friend from Let Your Light Shine, mentioned that she looked up the meaning of this poem. Thank you Ginny, I took a look myself and found it very interesting.  If you click on this link it will give you an interesting interpretation.

SNOW DAY FOR THE BIRDS ON MONDAY, JANUARY 6TH, 2025

Last Monday (1/6/25) was our first significant snowfall of the season. I spent a lot of my time looking at the birds outside. These are photos I took. I have added links to all their names.

The male House Finches were the first to appear after we replenished the birdseed.

This was the first White-throated Sparrow I had seen in a long time.
A Carolina Wren, always a visitor thankfully.
I felt lucky to get a photo of this Red-bellied Woodpecker before he flew out of frame.
A male Northern Cardinal and I think an American Goldfinch.
A Mourning Dove and a House Finch.
A Blue Jay, another regular visitor.
The House Finches and one Dark-eyed Junco looked like they were having a party.
I think this little House Finch was waiting for a spot to open up.

This is where I am ending my post. I hope you enjoyed my little birds enjoying their snow day.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your day is a great one.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - 9/7/24 - COFFEE TALK

My coffee is the secret ingredient to releasing my inner comedian. Sorry my friends, I obviously didn't get enough cups today.

And that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird feeder, with thanks to Pinterest for today's inspiration.

Thank you for putting up with the groaners.
Have a great weekend!

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - 8/31/24 - THE FRIENDLY FEATHERED FRIENDS' CLUB

Mrs. Downy and Mrs. Parrot enjoyed their welcome into the Friendly Feathered Friends Club. The cups of tea and the coffee were outstanding.

And so it goes on a Saturday Morning at the bird feeder.
