THE COW AND THE SHEEP

In a meadow green and serene,  

Stood a wooden fence so quaint,  

Where wildflowers danced in hues unseen,  

And nature's charm seemed ever faint.

A pretty cow of beige and white,  

Gazed over the fence with eyes so bright,  

Her gentle face, a peaceful sight,  

A countryside beauty in morning light.

Below the fence, a woolly sheep,  

Peeked curiously, not making a peep,  

With kind eyes that held stories deep,  

Of fields where dreams and wonders sleep.

Together they stood, a pastoral pair,  

Amidst wildflowers blooming rare,  

In harmony, without a care,  

Their friendship a sight beyond compare.

With the oak tree casting its shadowy lace,  

And the forest whispering its embrace,  

The cow and sheep found their place,  

In a scene of nature’s gentle grace.

I have more company coming, an overnight stay. Continuing with yesterday’s theme, we have been catching up on cleaning this week and Gregg is a great partner in this. However, my OCD kicks in at such times. It certainly helps with our downsizing project, helps with the motivation. I can't do as much as I would like to any more but as Gregg reminds me, they are not here to inspect the condition of our home and besides, that's what locks on the door are for. Throw everything into the spare room and start again when things are quiet. Grinning from ear to ear here! 

Thank you my Dear Knight in Shining Armor who has just painted the laundry room closet and put together a new shelf unit which fits neatly inside.  Amazingly it is already full of things I have wanted to tuck away from sight and sound, things we still use but not quite as much (kitchen counter tops are relatively free and clear). We are continuing our clearing out of things to take down to the local church - clothes, old kitchen appliances, old pots and pans, all decent to the eye and still working but we won’t use anymore, and probably never will. They will hopefully do someone some good. We have named this year our downsizing year - it's time!

ODDS AND BODS

Oh dear, what did they hang around your neck?

Well, we all have flaws sweet Little Pup but never you mind! All you have to do is wake up the next day, and say to yourself, “I am going to try again. This is the day I will know the difference between a poodle and a sheep.” Just keep going and never give up. And always remember, don’t be so hard on yourself. This picture is for you Little Pup! The animal in the center of the picture and the other animals that look like him, are the sheep. The animal on the right is a poodle! He is agile and graceful and smart but is not judgemental. He realizes we all were a little confused at one time. A mistake makes us humble, an achievement that we work hard for no matter how small, will show us to never to give up. And tell your humans not to hang that sign of shame around your neck. Sheep and poodle do not approve.

MORE FROM MY NIECE - HER PET LAMBS

A LITTLE LAMB

Here is a photo of a lamb my niece took three days ago.  When they, my niece and nephew, shared it with me, I asked if I could put their photo on my blog and they said yes. I will have more in a few days.  Thank you My Darlings!

HAPPY SAINT PATRICK'S DAY!

Two posts in one day for me is unusual, but I didn't want any more time to go by before wishing those of you who are celebrating, A Happy Saint Patrick's Day! 

I am not sure how long it will be before we can get out again, so you will be seeing a lot of old and random photos in the near future.  I do have a few more recent ones I haven't shared,  and will get them done sometime.  Graphics today were found at Pixabay here.

MORE PHOTOS FROM FRYING PAN PARK

In my first two photos, and always on the look out for interesting bits of nature, Gregg pointed out the fungi growing on the fence.

Good Morning, I hope you all had a great weekend.  Ours was busy as we had company.  Strangely I took no photos, didn't even think of it as we had such a good time talking until after midnight.  

I fixed one of those cheat meals for dinner but we all enjoyed it. It had been a busy week and I had no time to cook or fix ahead.  We were going to be out all day and this seemed the way to go for dinner that night, to get something on the table fast.  I was serving up half an hour after we arrived home.

For an appetizer I had two types of cheeses with crackers, plus some dates and a few nuts put together on a cheese board.  I know where to get really great chicken noodle soup.  It is the next best thing to homemade.  We have known our friends for many years and they do not expect anything more than good company.  One of them recommended the soup.  I added butter croissant and for dessert individual portions of Tiramisu, the kind that comes in a small glass.  A bottle of wine, great conversation and the evening was perfect. 

Not sure what we will be doing during the upcoming week, not sure if I will be taking any photos but in the meantime here are a few more from Frying Pan Park.

Tired piggies!

I found another goat in the field, too busy eating to pose for a portrait.

His brother was a hundred feet away having a snooze.

Brother looked like he would be following suit very soon.

There were signs asking us not to feed the horses as they were work horses.

This lovely cow was busy licking its trough, expectantly waiting for lunch.  We saw staff making their rounds feeding all the animals.

Thankfully these turkeys don't have to worry about making an appearance at the Thanksgiving table.

I read that for many years those turkeys who had been pardoned at the White House ceremony were sent here.
