But then....
And so it goes on a Saturday Morning at the bird feeder. You have to be quick around here, but never fear my feathered friends, things will be back to normal tomorrow.
Thanks for flying in everyone.
Have a wonderful day!
(bird ID's in the labels below.)
A really special treat for the birds! I think my favorite is the first one of the little woodpecker tilting his head at it. I think suet is their favorite. You got great photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny :) I had accidentally pushed these suet cakes into the back of a cupboard and found them looking for something else. I was glad to have something for the birds to eat today. I had been slow on getting their regular bird seed getting ready for the 25th.
DeleteWonderful photos. I am glad you found a treat for them.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sue, me too :)
DeleteHow beautiful to see these wonderful pictures of the birds,
ReplyDeletebut also their dialogues are very interesting!
Have a nice Saturday Denise (it's Saturday morning here).
I am happy you enjoyed them, thank you Katerina :) and for wishing me a nice Saturday also. I wish you the same.
DeleteA lovely treat for both birds and bloggers. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThat is sweet of you to say my friend, thank you so much :) you have a great day also.
DeleteThe cutest dialogue
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed Roentare, thank you :)
DeleteSweet. I wonder what will happen tomorrow? Aloha
ReplyDeleteI am wondering that too Cloudia :) Aloha!
DeleteThe mourning dove is so pretty, but it needs to be quicker off the mark to enjoy the goodies you put out.
ReplyDeleteIt does indeed, thank you Janice :)
DeleteThose always went quick when I would put them out. Too bad those last two got there late and didn't get any.
ReplyDeleteYes, they seem to be very popular. Thankfully we found a bag of birdseed hidden away in a corner of the garage. The dove and bluebird are happy again :)
DeleteCute birds and captions. Some birds have to be quicker at grabbing some food.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a happy day and a great last weekend of 2024.
They certainly do! It is survival of the fittest/fastest out there. Thank you Eileen and I wish you the same :)
DeleteA fine suet cake is a magnet for the birds, but at my house the squirrels sometimes get there first and there is not much left when the birds arrive.
ReplyDeleteThanks David and yes, the squirrels seem to get more than their fair share. Right now, however, we have one squirrel in the bottom part of the feeding bench, and the birds are on the top :)
DeleteIt sounds like a lovely Saturday morning with your feathered friends! The bird feeder must be a busy place, but it’s nice to know things will be back to normal soon. Wishing you a wonderful day filled with more birdwatching moments! I invite you to read my new blog post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2024/12/the-dark-side-of-tipping-culture-when-entitlement-turns-deadly.html
ReplyDeleteSo kind of you, thank you Melody. It is a very busy place and keeps me entertained for a good part of the day :) I shall enjoy popping over to see you. Thank you for the link!
DeleteCool post!!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne :)
DeleteClever crow!
ReplyDeleteClever indeed, thank you Angie :)
DeleteI'm sure they enjoy the treat!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
hugs
Donna
I think they did Donna, thank you! Happy New Year to you also :) sending hugs!
DeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteHappy you think so, thank you Christine! :)
DeleteGreat photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, much appreciated :)
DeleteYou had a nice assortment of visitors. Thanks for mentioning that it is Saturday. I'm behind and confused on what day of the week it is!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly did and I was very happy to see them. I know what those days are like. I have them myself :) Thank you Ellen!
DeleteI so miss feeding the birds...even the neighbors are not feeding this year.
ReplyDeleteI miss feeding them when we run out of food for them, and the summer when the larger wildlife are roaming :) Thanks Rose!
DeleteTOL (tweet out loud) hilarious.. I bought a Christmas bell suet to hang on the feeder hook near the trees and I put a cake in the suet cage. The itty bitty nut hatches, chick a dees, titmouse and Downy found them first. then the big beaks found it.
ReplyDeleteBut seems all are getting their turn.
Hugs Cecilia
Thanks Cecilia and it’s good to know your birds are getting their fair share :) sending hugs!
DeleteSome birds need to control their appetites so other little guys get some food.
ReplyDeleteIsn’t that the truth :) Thanks Red!
DeleteLovely to see the birds at the feeder, suet cake is a favourite :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It is and I really should make my own suet cakes. Thanks Jan and all the best to you too :)
DeleteSuet is a huge winter favorite in our feeders.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy New Year!!
Apparently ours too considering it disappeared so quickly. Thanks Yogi :)
DeleteWhat a lovely treat for the birds Denise. Saturdays at the feeder are always a special treat for me! Great photos as well my friend.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad my friend :) loved reading that. Thank you so much!
DeleteParece que la comida esta buena. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias :) Te mando un beso.
DeleteLovely conversation between that birds....
ReplyDeletesuet bread sounds new for me, but it must be sweet and delicious for bird's breakfast....Greetings
I am very happy you enjoyed their conversation. Suet cake is made for the birds. I can buy it in stores where birdseed is sold and they do find it delicious. Thank you and greetings from me also :)
DeleteAdorable post!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, so glad you enjoyed :)
DeleteLove your birdy captions! You have reminded me that I need to make suet for the birds. They eat the kind we buy but they prefer my homemade suet!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kay :) I bet they do prefer your homemade suet. Would you share your recipe please? Would love to make my feathered friends some to see what they think of it.
