NEIGHBORHOOD DECORATIONS 12-18-24

When we were driving home last Wednesday, I asked if we could go the long way round to see the neighborhood lights. There were a lot of blurry ones, but I weeded out these to share with you.

I usually crop them so as not to show the whole house, but thought the sky was really pretty in this one. We were approaching the twilight hour. Below is the same photo but a closer view of the decorations.

The reindeer and sleigh were on the other side of their driveway.

Another photo and that sky. There were more pretty lights than actual figures, but I thought it was a lovely display.

And another house with pretty lights and sky.

and the same house a little closer this time.

Next here comes the snowman and toy soldier.

Another snowman with Mickey Mouse, penguins and BabyYoda, the character on one of the Star Wars shows on TV.

A fuzzy picture of a few dinosaurs and another snowman.

Another dinosaur and a snowman.

and finally a Christmas Tree with reindeer.

People went to a lot of work to get their displays up, and I took photos of one couple in the process, not realizing they were there in the darkness until I took a good like on my laptop. I haven't shared that one. They didn't seem to notice us, and I didn't see them in the dark. There were many other decorations, but people were coming home and we didn't want to block traffic. I took these photos as we drove by. Hopefully, I will be able to get out again soon.

  1. Thank you very much, Denise, for sharing these neighbourhood decorations. They are so beautiful! Surprisingly, I was even able to pick a favourite: the garden of the 6th (and 5th) photo is so pretty with the line of round shrubs decorated with lights.
Thank you for your comment today! The images of my Advent calendar, and the header image, have been created with an online image generator. I have tried to illustrate my Christmas dreams with them. :)
A very merry Christmas to you! xx

    1. Hello Sara, thank you so much and you are very welcome! I liked your pick too. I have enjoyed using an image generator also. It is fun to see what they create with my own thought processes.

  2. I love it! I really like how you show the entire yard, then just zero in on a detail!! My favorite is the third one, it is beautiful!! How on earth did you get such clear and brilliant shots in such low light, almost dark?

    1. Happy you enjoyed them Ginny, thank you! :) I think it's more the phone than anything. I had a lot of blurry ones too but I guess I lucked out that night.

    1. The ones who do go all out, they do a great job. We also have a lot of homes who disappear in the darkness :)

  5. These are all wonderful. They sure do go all out to decorate. I haven't seen a whole lot of houses around here with decorations. Way fewer people do outside decorations in comparison to how it was when I first moved here. Our entire street used to be lit up.

  10. We have never lived in a place where anyone would see our outdoor Christmas decorations so have never done it as adults. I do remember my dad stringing lights around the house with those big screw-in type bulbs. I love it when people decorate their houses like the ones that you took photos of, so beautiful and festive!

    1. As a kid it just wasn't done to have lights on our homes but we used to put streamers and balloons up inside, as well as the Christmas tree. Loved decorating inside :) Thanks for sharing your memories. Always enjoy those.

    1. They are impressive :) There was one house that was incredible! Sadly the gentleman who used to do it has since passed away. It was very sad to go by his house the other night and see it so dark but the neighbors did their part and it was enjoyable seeing what everyone had done.

  15. Christmas lights and decorations are always such a joy to see. We haven't been out in the darkness, yet, to really be able to appreciate the lights. Maybe this weekend on our way home from the Children's Christmas play/musical at our church. Be merry and bright!

    1. That sounds wonderful! So happy for you that you will be seeing Mike soon. I know you will be drinking hot chocolate and enjoying the lights and more importantly his company. What better gift is there in the world, than to be with our children?

  17. The lights are so entertaining, especially for children. Some houses here put on special light shows, with music, collecting money for charity. People don't have to donate, but I think most do.

    1. That sounds wonderful Janice :) We also give what we can whether it is a donation or food for the local food bank or both. What better time to be reminded to give to others during this season of love and peace.

  18. So many lights in your neighborhood Denise. We hardly ever go out when it's dark but were able to the other evening and it's so pretty then. I must admit to not really liking the blow up ornaments unless they are up and working. We have never lit up our home like these folks do and I know it must be a lot of work! I do hope your day is going well.

    1. Thank you Martha Ellen and I am so glad you were able to get out. The weather has been a bit iffy here lately. I'm not a big fan of the blow-up decorations either but I always know where the kids live, lol! Our home has never looked like these either so it sounds like we are kindred spirits. Day has gone well thank you, and I hope the same for you :)

  21. What a lovely tradition to enjoy the neighborhood lights! The twilight sky really adds a magical touch to the scene, and I love how you captured both the wider view and the closer look at the decorations. The reindeer and sleigh are such festive details, especially when placed just right!

I just shared a helpful new post; you're welcome to check it out. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
