This morning I was looking for a particular photo and I don't even know how these popped up. One of those times I should have made notes on the steps but forgot. Anyhow, I enjoyed looking at all my posts over the years and thought you might enjoy too. You can enlarge to get a better look.
It rained heavily yesterday but looks pretty decent today. It is going to get up to 53 degrees Fahrenheit. We're off out for a quick trip. Gregg wanted a Bahn Mi sandwich from a favorite Vietnamese shop we know a few miles from here. We have been going there for years, ever since he discovered it on his way home from work in Washington DC (before retirement). There are no seats inside and we always end up having a car picnic. No breakfast today as we slept in, but Bahn Mi sounds wonderful for our first meal of the day.
Love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Regine :)
DeleteYes you have shared a lot of good stuff with us over the years! Much appreciated wishing you both a happy weekend
ReplyDeleteAs have you Cloudia :) Thank you and I wish you the same :)
DeleteI just spent 30 minutes browsing old post. I went to my blog and typed in search for Things that go boom. some of them I liked so much I am going to repost 2 of them. I have been posting since 2008 there is much I had forgotten. we all should brows and remember. it jogs up good memories
ReplyDeleteOld posts are fun to see again and I am looking forward to when you repost yours. Thanks Sandra :)
DeleteI enjoyed these Denise and I like looking back through my old posts too. That Bahn Mi sure does sound wonderful. I hope you enjoyed! Have a fantastic weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat Martha, so glad :) Our Bahn Mi from this shop never disappoints, we loved it! The car ride over there was enjoyable also as it's not as close as some places we go to, but well worth the drive.
DeleteThanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, thank you Christine :)
DeleteIt really is enjoyable to look back and remember! Hope you enjoyed that Bahn Mi!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is and we enjoyed very much Ellen. Thank you :)
DeleteIt's fun looking back at memories!
ReplyDeleteAgree 100 percent, thank you Jenn :)
DeleteA terrific mix of shots.
ReplyDeleteThanks William, so glad you think that :)
DeleteWhat a lovely selection of your photos! Bahn Mi is all the rage now. All I know is it is a Vietnamese sandwich. What makes it different from an American sandwich??
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny, I'm glad it has become popular. We certainly have been enjoying them all these years. I got a list of the ingredients for you, and the website of a recipe. I am not sure if it will taste the same because every chef must put their own signature on them :)
Delete2 Tbsp ice water
1 1/2 Tbsp fish sauce
1/2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 Tbsp potato starch
1/2 tsp beef seasoning
1/2 tsp ground white pepper
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 lb 80/20 ground beef
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp distilled white vinegar

I thought ours was made with ground pork. It is served up with lightly pickled vegetables cut into Julienne strips. What I can remember is carrots and white radishes, the long kind not the little round ones. There are also sliced hot pepper slices and whole sprigs of parsley/cilantro(?). You can take the pepper slices out if you don't like them. We always keep them in and they are never too hot. They put it all on a French Roll, which is always super tasty and fresh, and probably influenced from a time the French colonized Vietnam from 1877. Never fails but when we have finished the last bite, we also say I wish I could have another one. There are no tables inside so we have a car picnic and it is always fun.
This was a fun look back...seen lots of things I loved!
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed them Rose and yes, it is always fun to look back :) Thank you!
DeleteI'm glad it rained for you. We always need more rain in California. A good rain is wonderful. Someone said at the grocery store this morning said it was 11 degrees, so I'm just staying inside today trying to keep warm.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Hi Sheri, always good for the gardens isn't it, and for you even more important to get that rain? I hope it's just enough and not too much and you will get some very soon :) Gosh that is cold for California! Stay warm!
DeleteHope that you found the thumbnails that you wanted! Have a wonderful weekend, Denise.
ReplyDeleteNot yet Angie but I never give up :) You have a wonderful weekend too and thank you :)
DeleteEnjoy the trip.
ReplyDeleteA trip down memory lane, that's quite a trip and one where I remember happy times. Thanks Ann :)
Deleteit must have been great to look over all your posts and I am sure it brought back many memories that perhaps you had forgotten Denise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret, it was :) Most definitely!
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun look back, I love happy memories, the mosaics and images. Take care, enjoy your weekend!
Hello Eileen, thank you so much and you take care and enjoy your weekend also :)
DeleteHave a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, and a nice weekend to you also :)
DeleteI have only looked at earlier blog posts a few times and found that many images are missing. That said, reading the text portions was interesting. Nice to see you look-backs, Denise. We returned home from our 3-week road trip this past Wed just in time for an 8-inch snowfall. Sorry we didn't connect on this trip, but perhaps a future one.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably because my old blog is not active anymore. For some reason the thumbnails are from both blogs? Not sure why! Not tech savvy enough to figure it out. Glad you enjoyed what you could. Also, happy to hear you are home now and returned before getting caught in the snow! Looking forward to seeing your posts about your trip :) Hopefully, we will be road tripping soon and maybe we can go north some time and meet up.
DeleteLooking back at memories are so sweet, Denise. Your photo memories are lovely! Sounds like a great sandwich place. We enjoy having a car picnic as well. I love your insert in the camera at the end. Just darling!
ReplyDeleteThey surely are, thank you Linda :) My little insert is a photo of me taken when I was five years' old, with my teddy bear that I still have today. He is looking a bit battered and worn but he had a lot of love showered on him, lol!
Deleteso interesting!! if we only knew how fascinating the outcome would be, we would definitely write down the steps we were taking. how many times have we said, "boy i wish i knew how i got here".
ReplyDeleteExactly, if only ;) and long enough inbetween play that I forget to do that. Oh well :)
