FLOWERS FOR WARMTH ON CHILLY DAYS

These are photos taken at The Niagara Falls Botanical Garden, when we visited several years ago.  I try to find the scientific name not only because of my own interest, but for others who are, and for overseas blogging friends.  Its common name is sometimes different, but the scientific name always stays the same, and can be identified internationally.

These blooms were hanging down from a tree.  At the time I identified them as blooms from the Kentucky Yellowwood Tree. Scientific name is Cladrastis kentuckea.

Golden Columbine - Aquilesia crysantha
Yellow Queen
Ranunculaceae

Yellow wild indigo - Baptisia sphaerocarpa
Also known as Round Wild Indigo, Green Wild Indigo, Yellow Wisteria and Brush Pea.

Mountain Bluet - Centaurea montana

Vasevine - Clematis viorna
Also known as Leatherflower, Vase-Vine Leatherflower and Viorna

Thanks for looking and enjoy the rest of your week.

  8. You show some good examples as to why the scientific name is best as it pins the identity down.

  9. Hi Denise, beautiful flowers.
The Mountain Bluet has a common name of Common Knapweed in England, but you will probably remember that.

    1. Thanks Roy, I loved the flowers in my father's garden, and knew the more popular ones, but didn't get that information about it being called the Common Knapweed over there. Appreciate you passing that on :)

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.

I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
