CHILDREN LEARN WHAT THEY LIVE



If children live with...
criticism, they learn to condemn
hostility, they learn to fight
ridicule, they learn to be shy
shame, they learn to feel guilty
tolerance, they learn to be patient
encouragement, they learn to be confident
praise, they learn to appreciate
fairness, they learn justice
security, they learn to have faith
approval, they learn to like themselves
acceptance and friendship,
they learn to find love in the world.

Let's teach our kids love and acceptance for one another, no matter what our differences, starting from the day they are born.  Teach them love for one another, which should include love of self. It is not our weakness, it is our strength.  

 Children are our most precious commodity, they are our hope for a better world.

    Sounds good to me. If only parents would teach their children manners and respect which sadly seems to be lacking in a lot of kids today. I must say I find the French children generally very polite and caring.

      Thank you Diane, I know what you mean but have to say I have been very impressed by the young people I have met lately. It's good to see. About the insects, macros really open up their world to me, and my curiosity. Fascinating creatures!

    I have a copy of the verse to hang up. Mom always did too. I see children downtown where parents have very young ones participating and holding up signs in front of filthy words written on the monuments. It cant stop this way. Not every one is going to think or be what we want, I tell my grand children, but they do not have to be that way.

    I was a 1st grade teacher so I’ve seen this and know its truth. Coincidentally, my post today was along the same lines. Unfortunately, we have too many children learning to be prejudiced, fearful and full of hate. However, I’m also hopeful that with all the protesting, dialogue, and focus on solutions... I hope... I hope some real change can begin.

      Hi Kay, I want to thank you as I know you must have been an amazing and compassionate teacher. This I know with surety from visiting your blog all these years. Teachers play a very large part in shaping our children's minds. Like you I am hoping change will come, we are both living in hope.

      I know how you feel Linda, no we cannot ever give up on this. I am hopeful that this time things will be better. One way is to remind our politicians at the voting booth. Keeping fingers crossed here for better days for everyone but especially for our children.
