HOW ABOUT MEETING BUFFALO BILL BUNNY AGAIN?

I have not gotten out to take any photos lately so I am thankful I can go to my old blog and find something for you. One of my favorites popped up, a bunny we found while on a road trip in September 2013. Meet Buffalo Bill Bunny. We found him in a quiet area of the garden when visiting the Buffalo Bill Center in Cody, Wyoming, which you can look at here.

Buffalo Bill Cody is famous worldwide. I remember my father telling me stories about him as a child. Dad was a big western fan and new all about Buffalo Bill's Wild West Tours in the UK, stories he had read when he was a young lad. That was the first time I had ever heard of this famous showman. You can read a biography at this link.

His namesake, Buffalo Bill Bunny wanted me to tell you "Howdy!"

He was a bit too busy to get into an in-depth conversation...

but told me he was very happy I had named him so auspiciously.

I couldn't interest him in any kind of conversation. That grass was just too tasty.

An addition to my post on Saturday, September 7th, 2024. There is another from this center that I published on Annie Oakley.  She was a very popular performer at Buffalo Bill's Wild West Tours. You can see that post at this link.

Thanks for hopping by and
I hope your week has gone well.

COWBOY'S GRACE...

I am spring cleaning a little early, and going through old boxes I came across mementos from a road trip.  One was an old post card I picked up from the museum we visited in Cody, Wyoming, on our trip across country a few years ago.  The other was the Cowboy's Grace.  I put them together for today's post.

Dear Lord,
Yer lookin' at a man who never learned to cook,
Unless you count pork and beans.
And a flowery grace like you'd read in a book,
Is really beyond my means.

But you can believe I'm a thankful man,
though it might be undeserved.
And I'll eat whatever comes out of the pan
No matter what's been served.

I don't take it lightly if it's real good,
'Cause I'd eat it anyway,
See, I know there's people in all likelihood
That maybe won't eat today.

So count me in if yer needin' grace said,
And bless those who provide it.
The farmers and ranchers, the bakers of bread,
The loving hands who fried it.

But most of all Lord we give thanks to You,
'Cause we who work on the land
Know how much our harvest and bounty is due
To the graceful touch of Yer hand.

So bless this food and the life we embrace,
And please forgive us our pride,
When others with tables a'plenty say grace,
For what we've helped You provide.

A BLACK-CAPPED CHICKADEE AT A BIRDFEEDER IN WYOMING

My theme this week seems to be of birds.  This one is from my archives.  I like to re-share my favorites occasionally.  We were in Cody, Wyoming.  I was sitting in a garden and watched the birds as they came to the feeder.  The feeder alone was worthy of a shot.

It snowed most of the day yesterday, a more wet, heavy snow according to Gregg as he shoveled the driveway.  Our neighbor across the street has one of those powered snow removers, but said it was too much of a wet snow and it wouldn't work properly.  Never having had one I wouldn't know.   This latest snowfall left three or four inches on the ground, so not so bad compared to other areas.  The good news is that it is going to get up to 50 degrees F. today.  That should get rid of quite a lot.

We will be seeing our son tonight.  He has been out of town on business for a couple of days and we are picking him up at the airport.  Our sweet daughter-in-law dropped him off.  We volunteered to pick him up as she will be working, and we never miss a chance to enjoy his company.

I am heading to the coffee pot for my first cup of the day.  I wish you all a good one, and thanks so much for stopping by.
