"Teaching Your Child Through Play"
I tried to teach my child with books
He gave me only puzzled looks.
I tried to teach my child with words.
They passed him by often unheard.
Despairingly, I turned aside.
"How shall I teach this child?" I cried.
Into my hand he put the key,
"Come," he said, "play with me."

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Sometimes you just don't think of the simplest things... playing!
ReplyDeleteThis post is so cool and funny!
You're so funny, and you've made an important message out of it!
hugs Elke
Happy you think so Elke, thank you very much :) Hugs, Denise
DeleteThe only play kids are interested in these days is their phone....when I was kid, we played outside with neighbours' kids and I don't think I have ever owned any dolls or toys...nature was our playground.
ReplyDeleteNature is the best playground :)
DeleteA very cute poem, and true!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny, yes, very true :)
DeleteP.S. Playing with kids teaches them sharing, patience, fairness, respecting differences, just so much!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more Ginny :)
DeleteOh that is a very cute poem, Denise :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret :) so glad you liked it.
DeleteWhat a cute poem that is. Play is a great way to sharpen the imagination
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, thank you Anne and I am so glad you like the poem :)
DeleteIt is great fun to teach children through play, and you are given a great excuse to do all manner of silly things!
ReplyDeleteI agree David and it is so important for adults to get in touch with their inner child. The best way to play with our children.
DeleteMy first post of the morning. Nice one.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed this first thing in the morning. Thank you!
DeletePlaying is good for adults also.
ReplyDeleteVery much so Val, totally agree :)
DeleteThis one is lovely.
ReplyDeleteGreat, thank you Jeanie :)
DeleteFun! Have a great day playing with whatever comes your way, Denise.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, I always try to do that :)
DeleteDear Denise :)
ReplyDeleteSo true! A sweet poem and the drawings are cute.
Thank you Sonjia, happy you think so :)
DeleteThis is an excellent point. I also am saddened by the fact children don't play like they used to. My son is Gen X and I think they were the last to have what I will call a normal childhood.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope this generation will see the light :)
DeleteLovely
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine :)
DeleteCute post and poem! Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, you too :)
Deletenow this is a poem I love and understand. and seeing the child on this type bike is a good thing. it is powered by him and his cute legs, always great.. playing with kids is something I did not do that I very much regret
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, he was a darling little boy and was having so much fun on that bike :) Mom's who go out to work shouldn't be so hard on themselves and none of us are perfect. We're all learning.
DeleteI 100% agree with the play. I cannot tell you how many hours my daughter and I spent playing Barbies and puzzles. Now my daughter has such a command of colors,
ReplyDeleteshapes styles. I attribute to her fascination with Barbie's She would often ask me if I could make thus and so for her Barbies. She designed new clothes with remnants out of my fabric stash.
Hugs Cecilia
That's wonderful Cecilia, thank you for sharing those lovely memories :)
DeleteWonderful poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you Marcia, so glad you enjoyed. I like sharing these gems when I find them :)
DeleteLovely :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Ananka :)
DeleteHaha ... love the little Denise drawing. Marvelous poem. Engaging with children is, indeed, the key. It is a bit disappointing to see so many people wrapped up in their iPhones and ignoring not only the scenery but the kids at their side and in their care.
ReplyDeleteHi Penelope, happy you enjoyed my post today. One day kids will get their heads out of their cell phones, maybe find a happy balance of things. I live in hope :) Thank you!
DeleteAww a cute post and poem.
ReplyDeletePlay is so important when growing up.
All the best Jan
Happy you enjoyed Jan, thank you and all the best to you too :)
DeleteLindo poema y buena reflexión. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias. Te mando un beso :)
DeleteWell, this poem hit home for me, Denise, as I was a stay at home mom and with my kids all day, every day, taking care of them, reading to them, playing with them. I didn't have a lot of alone time, but I wouldn't change this time for the world. Thank you for sharing and bringing back some sweet memories for me.
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful Rose :) thank you for sharing those lovely memories :)
DeleteCute photo and wise words.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Beverley :)
DeleteSweet poem.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra :)
DeleteI learn through play even today. In fact, that's what I say. Learn through play. It's the best.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Ivy, it's the best :)
DeleteVery appropriate.
ReplyDeleteThank you William, I agree :)
