I hope you are all having a super day and weekend. Nothing too exciting here but we enjoy our quiet times.
We are still looking for a few bird feeding pieces for the new deck. The rail is a lot narrower and we certainly don't want to drill any holes anywhere as not made out of wood, so no hooks to hang birdfeeders from.
I came up with the idea of putting a simple table outside, a long-ish, narrow one. Nothing made out of wood so that we can spray wash and clean up when needed.
We are just throwing ideas out and hoping something sticks.
We went off to Lowe's after running a few errands last Thursday. I was hoping for something left over, but they won't have anything until next spring we were told.
They had lots of Fall decorative items, and Christmas too.
I guess I could hang a feeder from the arm of one of Santa's helpers? They are after all, always very helpful, but they won't be by until Christmas Eve.
So, nope, no purchases today but plenty of photos, and a fun time browsing.
I think I will wait a little longer for Santa. I am still enjoying everything Fall.
Thanks for looking and
have a great day.
Lowe's is a great place to take photos for blogging, and I have done it more than once. My favorites are the pale green pumpkin in the first photo, and the adorable fox scarecrow. A scarefox! I think I would have had to buy him.
ReplyDeleteThat's very true Ginny, I had fun looking at all these visuals. I can just see the scarefox and green pumpkin in your decorations :)
DeleteI am sooooo not ready to think Christmas - though it is looming. I hope you get an idea for your bird feeder soon. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt will be here before we know it Sue :) Thank you and you have a great week!
DeleteChristmas decorations, oh my how time flies. All the photos are lovely, the flowers are gorgeous Denise.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does Margaret :) Thank you, glad you enjoyed.
DeleteThe blossoms are just sheer joy to look at. All that Xmas stuff too lol
ReplyDeleteVery much so and yes indeed, lol :(
DeleteBeautiful blog
ReplyDeleteThank you Rajani :)
DeleteThey've got some great decorations there. I should stop there one of these days to browse.
ReplyDeleteThere were a lot of fun decorations to see Ann :)
Deletei just ran a google search by type bird feeders for decks that to not need holes and there are dozens of ways to put feeders out. they have them with clips and braces that hang over the railing and also free standing. good luck
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great ideas Sandra :) much appreciated!
DeleteBeautiful flowers and colours in your post. Hope you solve your bird feeder problem. We don't have a problem here because we are told not to feed wild birds because they forget how to find their own food and if we go away on holidays they will go hungry.
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, thank you :) I have started the process and we will have to see how it all works out. I understand the logic of not feeding the birds in your community. I only feed them when the weather is cold and their natural food is scarce. Also, there are plenty of people in our neighborhood who do as I do, so there is no worry about them going hungry if we miss a day, or go away on holiday.
DeleteI hope you manage to come up with something. Our garden centres are filled with festive decor now, gorgeous to look at but annoying when you're wanting anything they deem seasonal out of season.
ReplyDeleteHi Jo, thank you very much :) I have left it a bit late for things I need this year. It will be fun in the Spring. In the meantime, I will put together a small birding area.
DeleteHello, Denise
ReplyDeleteI love all the mums and fall decorations. I am not ready for Christmas yet.
Take care, have a wonderful week!
Thank you Eileen, they were wonderful to look at :) You take care and have a wonderful week also.
DeleteLovely post!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Anne :)
DeleteChanges seem to cause many other changes . So a new deck is just different enough to have make something else to it like your birdfeeders.
ReplyDeleteVery true! It takes me a while to get used to change, whatever it may be. I get there eventually :) Thanks Red!
DeleteIf you have any trees maybe you could hang the birdfeeders there?
ReplyDeleteThat’s a great idea Christine, thank you! I would like to have some way of getting to see the critters though, and all the trees are out of my close range view. Plus the fact that I would have to climb on a ladder to get to the lower branches. Neither of us are spring chickens any more, so I don’t like hubs doing that either :)
DeleteI love all the fall colours! I put out one Christmas light today. I had to cover the fountain,. anyway, as it was raining.
ReplyDeleteFall colors are amazing aren’t they, especially so where you are? Good for you on the Christmas light, I bet it looks pretty :)
DeleteHow nice. I usually avoid stores and malls to keep from getting sick.
ReplyDeleteThank you Gigi, this was a rare occasion as I am not one for crowds at the best of times.
DeleteSuch colourful photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you Nikki, they certainly are :)
DeleteLowe's looks a great place to visit ... lovely photographs Denise.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
I had not been to Lowe’s in a long time. It was fun! Thank you Jan and all the best to you too :)
DeleteFall is such a great time of year, and there is something inherently wonderful just looking at squash, let alone eating it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you 100 percent David :)
DeleteSuch pretty photos of all the lovely fall decorations, Denise. I don't know if you are familiar with Wild Birds Unlimited, but they have pole systems for decks. Just throwing that out there if you are interested in something that wouldn't require drilling into your beautiful deck.
ReplyDeleteSo happy you enjoyed them Martha Ellen :) Thank you for telling me about Wild Birds Unlimited. I will take a look most definitely.
DeleteLots of fun photos. I love taking pictures at hardware stores and gardening centers.
ReplyDeleteThey have oodles of photo opportunities don’t they? :)
DeleteThanks for sharing your photos. I love browsing Lowes and Home Depot for ideas, and of course Hobby Lobby. I hope you find a good way to hang feeders on your new deck.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome, I am happy you enjoyed :) Thank you, the ideas are bouncing around the old noggin. I will get there eventually. I miss my birds, and squirrels ;)
DeleteMums are so beautiful and showy and just wonderful with the pumpkins. I'm not ready to see Christmas yet. I was at Lowe's last week and Christmas was all over. I made for the toilet bowl cleaner and light bulbs and got away! But I know i'll be back!
ReplyDeleteThey are Jeanie and so many lovely colors. Glad you got what you needed. I’ll be back too :)
DeleteYou've got some good creative ideas. Hope you find something ideal for your deck and the birds! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen, much appreciate your encouragement :)
DeleteChristmas decor, already? Sigh.
ReplyDeleteYes, already :) I may be mistaken but they seem even earlier this year.
DeleteGreat colors! There are feeder poles designed to go over railings that do not require nails. I have some on my railings, but I don’t know if they would fit on yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I am wondering about that. I guess it’s because the deck is brand new and pristine, we don’t want to hasten its wear and tear. Probably being overly cautious and those hooks over the rail do sound like a good idea :)
DeleteSuch wonderful photos. Look at all those Mums in the different colors. Christmas stuff out already, oh my, that makes me smile.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
So glad you feel that way Sheri. Thank you :) I loved all the different colored Mums too. The Christmas stuff made me smile also but I still have my head wrapped up in Fall. That will change soon no doubt.
