CUTE BUNNY

Everything you can learn from a bunny.

Meditate and reflect on life frequently.
Be selective whom you let get close to you.
Snuggle and kiss your beloved often.
Digest the newspaper daily.  No digging your head in the sand.
Eat a good share of fresh fruit and vegetables daily.
Kick up your heels once in a while, but don't get too carried away now.
Be curious about everything in life.
Keep yourself well groomed and wash behind your ears.
Avoid those who growl at you and continuously make you sad.
No matter where you live you can make it homey and fun, with a little rearranging of things.
When you get frustrated or angry throw some sand, or better still get someone to hold you.

As Easter isn't too far away,  here are some interesting facts:

The first written recording of the Easter Bunny comes from 1500 A.D. in Germany which refers to him as Oschter Haws. Although the exact origins are unknown, the rabbit is a pagan symbol for fertility, springtime, renewal of life, and is associated with the moon which determines the date Easter falls upon each year.

The Easter Bunny is also referred to as the Easter Hare, Easter Rabbit, and Spring Rabbit. In some parts of Australia, the Easter symbol is the Easter Bilby.

If like me you wondered what a Bilby was, you can see it here, along with a very interesting article.

  2. There is a push for the bilby (one of our native animals) to be accepted as an Easter symbol, but I think the bunny still rules.

  7. Never heard of a bilby before but if there was a competition for good looks I think the rabbit would win.

    1. I agree William. Don't get to see them that often these days. We had a clover patch in our front garden when we first moved here. The rabbits loved it but little did I know once we got rid of the clover, we would get rid of the rabbits too. I missed them.

  10. The Christian idea of Easter, is not Pagan. :-) But as with other Christian dates, they were placed, to usurp old Pagan important dates, etc.

And actually, the idea of a savior, and even virgin birth, has been held, through out time, all over the world. It is old, old, old.

As to the hare..... Since I am Irish and Scottish.... "In Irish folklore the hare is also often associated with the Otherworld (Aos Si) community whose world was reached through mists, hills, lakes, ponds, wetland areas, caves, ancient burial sites, cairns and mounds."

I love the idea of hares, dancing wildly, under the Full Moon!!!! :-))))

    Happy April hugs,

  14. The bilby is a lovely little creature. I've been fortunate enough to live in an area in North Queensland where we caught a glimpse of one occasionally. They are very shy and I honestly don't think they would enjoy the attention of being an Easter symbol. And, love them as I do, I don't think they can compete with the Easter Bunny.
