GLEN BURNIE GARDENS IN WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA - 9-17-24 - PART 1

We made a trip back to Glen Burnie as we felt like a ride today (9/17/24). There was thick cloud cover, and we knew it was going to rain later, with more over the next several days. But we thought we might be lucky if we started out early enough. This is a planter that I am always drawn to. It has two dragon handles on each side as you can see.  More photos next time as I am tuckered out and am off to bed early.

Thanks for looking and as always, I hope your day is a great one.

BACK TO THE GARDEN CENTER - GARDEN NICKNACKS

I meant to get back to these sooner as our visit to the garden center was on April 20th.

The foxes told me they wanted me to take them home but I stood my ground. I told them there were enough foxes in our neighborhood but I was sure they would be going home with someone that day.
Ahhh, dragons!
"Let your creativity soar on dragon's wings across uncharted skies."
~Author Unknown~

The Zen Frog was giving some advice today: "Make a splash, look before you leap, don't jump to conclusions, enjoy a good swim, stretch your legs often, spend time at your pad, and hop to it!" I may have read this on Pinterest and yes, you may have read this before.

I was very taken with the bronze fairy. She is a birdfeeder/birdbath holder. It seemed like she was five feet tall but couldn't be sure as she was displayed on top of a table, and she towered over me. I wasn't surprised at the price on the sticker, so I wistfully put it down and said goodbye to my sweet fairy.
I asked my little buddies here if they decided to give her away to let me know, but they weren't hearing, speaking or seeing me. They knew nothing and I will always respect them for that. Good little bunnies!
So here we are away with the fairies.
I think I mentioned before I am hoping to put together a small fairy garden inside a planter. I enjoyed looking at the ones here.
The fairy house is the last photo from this side of the nicknack shop. Below is the one on the other side of the corridor. I had fun browsing through there also, but I will save that for another time.

Remember, if you are away with the fairies, in my mind that is a good thing. I have said it many times before, we all need to get in touch with our inner child/fairy once in a while. Let it fly!

Thanks for looking and sending you only the very best wishes for a great day!

THE SENTINEL

I found this interesting fellow on our latest walk. I tried a search to find out more about him but wasn't successful. I could have walked up, knocked on the door and asked but it was very quiet, and I certainly didn't want to be a bother. Besides, I have now named him myself. I have no idea where the name came from, it just popped into my head. I have probably heard it before but who knows where or when, I don't have a clue.  Anyhow, meet Montague!

I found him rather magnificent! I think in my heart I would have enjoyed being a sculptor. I have probably mentioned this before but my Dad was a hobbyist carpenter. He loved putting things together in his spare time. I used to watch him and hand him his tools, while Mum was inside getting dinner ready, with my sister's help. He made Mum a small table once, lots of things over the years but that one stuck in my head. She would ask Dad and he would happily get his tools out. Once he made bunk beds for their caravan up north. It's probably why I love even today to see how things are built out of wood. I watch shows on YouTube, the process of building a log cabin for instance. I have always found that fascinating and admire the skills of every builder. It wouldn't have been too big of a stretch to change my interests to metal sculptures. To see them come together like this would be very rewarding.

So, hello Montague, how are you doing today? He is not one of those fire-breathing dragons, so we are all safe.

Montague and I thank you all for dropping in, and we hope you have a wonderful day.

THE FAIRY GARDEN AT MEADOWLARK GARDENS 5-5-22 - AND A WHIMSICAL TALE

There were a few old friends here, and a few new ones.  It was good to see the Fairies back after their winter sleep.
"A rustle in the wind reminds us, a fairy is near."  I don't know who the author is of this quote, but there's been a lot of rustling lately.
The three Graces were out in front of their tiny houses, chatting away.
Mommy Fairy was listening to her son about his day in Fairy School, while waiting for dinner to finish cooking.
The frogs had gone back to the lily pads for a rest, but other help had arrived to take care of things.
A Little Brown Skink was on guard.
The Fairies appreciated it taking care of them while the frogs were away.
The Dragon also made an excellent guard.
He looked fearsome and could be if needed but, was also gentle and kind.
He had adopted the Fairies and they were his family.
The Queen of the Fairies could also be fearsome to protect her young...don't mess with that fairy stick!
The Flying Pig and other Piggies were standing guard...
 also the Jolly Gnomes.
And listen carefully...
soft, musical notes are coming from the pansies...
These pansies were singing a different tune.  Yes, different but all flowers grow in the same soil, where music is One...
and when combined, their notes sing the promise of peace all throughout the Fairy Kingdom.

And so it goes in the Fairy Garden.
