THE GIFT SHOP AT THE MUSEUM OF THE SHENANDOAH VALLEY IN WINCHESTER, VIRGINIA 7-16-24

 Usually, I wait until the end of a visit to go to the gift shop, but this time it was the first stop. The parking lot is a short walk, and Gregg took the few purchases I made back to the car, and put them in the trunk. He was there and back in a couple of minutes. I suspected, and rightly so, that we would be too tired to go on our way out. This way we didn't have to carry these few purchases around the garden.

In all of the museum and gardening shops we go to, I more often than not look for stocking stuffers for Christmas. They have some neat little things in them that I don't see in other places.

Inside the cabinet the top two shelves were dedicated to a Christmas in July theme. These are wooden Santa Clauses made by local artisans. I enjoyed looking at them and no I didn't buy any. I did pick up two or three greeting cards and a drinking mug. I didn't see those stocking stuffers today, but I'll be sending off the cards to family and friends sometime, and the mug will replace the one I broke last month.

It's fun to look at the stoneware, also made locally.  Many, many pretty pieces.

I had an eye on this plate. I thought it was beautiful! Maybe if I drop a line to Santa when the time is right, and tell him I've been a good little girl, or at least I am trying hard.

For a small gift shop it has a lot in there.

One last photo with my dear buying those items. I daresay we will be back here again when we visit the glass exhibit before it ends. Keeping fingers crossed that we get there.

AT THE GARDEN CENTER GIFT SHOP

 I meant to share these back in April. I didn't buy anything but had a fun time looking around. At the garden center on each side of a corridor were the gift shops. You may have seen this post.  

I don't know what these would be called, but they were spools of decorative binding with different patterns. I especially liked the one with bees. They would look very nice on the end of a summer blouse or dress, or a tablecloth perhaps.

This design of an old postcard was on the front of a bag.

 

There were so many things I enjoyed browsing through.

I particularly liked the bunny. 

No surprise there!

And the frog!

and I thought these decorative butterflies were really pretty.

They were next to the ceramic froggy watering can.

BACK TO THE GARDEN CENTER - GARDEN NICKNACKS

  I meant to get back to these sooner as our visit to the garden center was on April 20th. 

The foxes told me they wanted me to take them home but I stood my ground. I told them there were enough foxes in our neighborhood but I was sure they would be going home with someone that day.

The Zen Frog was giving some advice today: "Make a splash, look before you leap, don't jump to conclusions, enjoy a good swim, stretch your legs often, spend time at your pad, and hop to it!" I may have read this on Pinterest and yes, you may have read this before.

I was very taken with the bronze fairy. She is a birdfeeder/birdbath holder. It seemed like she was five feet tall but couldn't be sure as she was displayed on top of a table, and she towered over me. I wasn't surprised at the price on the sticker, so I wistfully put it down and said goodbye to my sweet fairy.

I asked my little buddies here if they decided to give her away to let me know, but they weren't hearing, speaking or seeing me. They knew nothing and I will always respect them for that. Good little bunnies!

So here we are away with the fairies.

I think I mentioned before I am hoping to put together a small fairy garden inside a planter. I enjoyed looking at the ones here.

The fairy house is the last photo from this side of the nicknack shop. Below is the one on the other side of the corridor. I had fun browsing through there also, but I will save that for another time.

Remember, if you are away with the fairies, in my mind that is a good thing. I have said it many times before, we all need to get in touch with our inner child/fairy once in a while. Let it fly!
