I may not see all the seeds I scatter
But I know where I stand.
I stretch to make the world a better place
And lend a helping hand.
I help the dreamers to dream
And the songbirds to sing:
From my branches they leap
And learn to first trust their wing.
When they fall I am here,
They speak and I care.
I tell them - “Go into the world
And your bright talents share!”
It’s an encouraging thing to hear
At the end of a rough day.
I know in time their fruits will come
I’m just glad that through their journey I can help out some.
I am thankful for those who years ago planted me,
And helped me to become
A helping tree.
The Helping Tree by Dallin Candland
The author is a person of deep faith. Even those who are of different beliefs will appreciate this poem, for its message is universal. We could all be a Helping Tree, many already are and hopefully everyone has known someone like that in their lives, or if they haven't, have tried to be one.
I found this delightful picture on Pinterest and went searching for a poem that would best express it. I found Dallin's poem and thought it powerfully positive. I am always trying to pass on the positivity and most definitely living in hope for a kinder tomorrow. There are many kind people out there already and I am going to try and find their stories.
Hi Denise, this is a lovely poem! I picture the branches like arms...we use our arms to work, to pick things up, to pick children up! And we use our arms to hug! All these things help. Thank you so much for sharing this.

ReplyDeleteThank you for passing along the positivity, Denise. This poem & picture warmed my heart today. I love trees! I read a quote one time that said even a dead tree is not dead at all...it's alive with things living inside it. How true! Love, Andrea xoxo
