SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER- THE SHEEP WERE BUSY

In the meantime, busy needles were clacking, with sheep knitting sweaters for winter.

And that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder! It isn't just the birds who are welcome here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

For our international friends to translate the above photos.

 Photo 1:

Hello Mr. Goldfinch, so nice to see you. It has been several months since we last saw you.

Thank you, it is good to be back.

Photo 2:

Did you know you have sheep in your garden? They keep saying winter is coming.

Photo 3:

It was cooler today but it is still August. It also rained like the Dickens.

I am so confused.

Photo 4:

Did you know it takes five sheep just to make one sweater?

I didn't even know they could knit!

That's a real groaner!

A NICE WALK AT WALNEY

Hello Dear Friends!

A collage of photos from our latest walk at the visitor center and the pond today. I was hoping to see hummingbird moths. I didn’t see them but there were other things that kept our interest.

It was a lovely day, in the low 80s and not too humid. I will have the larger photos and explain more when I can put a post together. Lots of lovely nature. I feel so good getting out in it. It's like a tonic and a breath of fresh air all rolled into one.

More photos either tomorrow or at least within the next few days.

I hope you all have a great day, wishing you peace and thanks for stopping by.

UNGRATEFUL

"So far this week my barking has saved my family from never-ending knocks on the door from sales people. Sixteen ran away because mommy says my bark sounds like the roar of a lion. Also 10 delivery people jumped over the fence, along with 8 mail carriers, 7 Girl Scouts and one sketchy looking plastic bag…and yet they still remain ungrateful and tell me to shush. So rude!”

Thanks for looking and
I hope no one tells you to 'shush'.
You can always chase them over the fence.

POSITIVITY POST - A POEM - I MAY NOT…

I may not see all the seeds I scatter

But I know where I stand.

I stretch to make the world a better place

And lend a helping hand.

I help the dreamers to dream

And the songbirds to sing:

From my branches they leap

And learn to first trust their wing.

When they fall I am here,

They speak and I care.

I tell them - “Go into the world

And your bright talents share!”

It’s an encouraging thing to hear

At the end of a rough day.

I know in time their fruits will come

I’m just glad that through their journey I can help out some.

I am thankful for those who years ago planted me,

And helped me to become

A helping tree.

The Helping Tree by Dallin Candland

The author is a person of deep faith. Even those who are of different beliefs will appreciate this poem, for its message is universal. We could all be a Helping Tree, many already are and hopefully everyone has known someone like that in their lives, or if they haven't, have tried to be one.

I found this delightful picture on Pinterest and went searching for a poem that would best express it. I found Dallin's poem and thought it powerfully positive. I am always trying to pass on the positivity and most definitely living in hope for a kinder tomorrow. There are many kind people out there already and I am going to try and find their stories.

ODDS AND BODS - 7/1/25 - HAPPY FIRST DAY OF THE MONTH

and as this tickled my funny bone.

The kitties are wondering if the rain is going to startup again. We have had a lot of the liquid sunshine in these parts, as well as hot and humid weather.

I am still a bit tired. How about you?

Time for breakfast! I think I will start off with blueberries.🫐

Muffins maybe…

Or this one.

Or something I used to have when growing up, one of my mother’s desserts. I could easily eat this for breakfast.

I love cute and pretty art.

This week I am very much enjoying seeing the bees and loving any bee-art I find…

and butterflies. A different kind of art which I find lovely!

Here is an interesting word below. It is the wrong time of the year for fires, but I find sitting next to a crackling fire very soothing. A memory: I was on a road trip traveling to a family reunion and we were in Canada out in the boonies somewhere. My dear other half wasn’t able to go with us. This was long before retirement and he was working on an important deadline. And so, son and I joined the rest of the family on this wonderful adventure. We had stayed at a small rustic lodge mid-journey, and built a fire that evening, in a fire pit, on a sandy area next to a large lake. Our cabins were behind us. I was the last one to move from the fire. Everyone else had gone to bed. I could have stayed there all night listening to the crackling of those burning logs, and watching the smoke curling up and disappearing into the night sky but, the supply of logs was just about done, getting down to ashes and well, my thoughts were on bears and other night creatures. Finally, and reluctantly, I went to bed. This memory makes me smile and even after all these years, it is very soothing to me.

After our dinner earlier, the owner of the lodge was going fishing the next day and he told us just to toss the keys on the table where we had eaten the night before. (We didn’t meet his wife as she was visiting her family.) He told us he never locked the doors, that he wouldn’t see us again as he would be leaving early. I heard a seaplane take off on the lake in the wee hours, and assumed it was our lodge keeper.  I was absolutely in awe of his trust in us.

And this next one should be titled, those were the days…

and while we are on the subject, do any of you have those ring or similar doorbells\security cameras, and what do you think of them?  I am toying with the idea of getting one. I would also like to have an automatic floodlight in a couple of places around the house. I feel, apart from the obvious, if I find myself out there in the dark, I would like to see where I am going and not fall flat on my face. I have a strong flashlight but would like a larger coverage in case a fox or a raccoon is about. Yes, I know they would scurry off into the dark. Anyone who has them, I would love to know what you think. Thanks in advance!

As it’s my birthday month I thought this would be fun. An oldie we all know probably.

This week’s iPad Jigsaw Puzzle I put together.

How about a few wise words?

I am me and what you see is what you get.

…and again, having come across this and how it also tickled my funny bone…

So on that note my dear friends…

I thank you for looking at the whimsical side of me,
and I wish you all a very happy July.

With my thanks to Pinterest for today’s inspiration.

THE COW AND THE SHEEP

In a meadow green and serene,

Stood a wooden fence so quaint,

Where wildflowers danced in hues unseen,

And nature's charm seemed ever faint.

A pretty cow of beige and white,

Gazed over the fence with eyes so bright,

Her gentle face, a peaceful sight,

A countryside beauty in morning light.

Below the fence, a woolly sheep,

Peeked curiously, not making a peep,

With kind eyes that held stories deep,

Of fields where dreams and wonders sleep.

Together they stood, a pastoral pair,

Amidst wildflowers blooming rare,

In harmony, without a care,

Their friendship a sight beyond compare.

With the oak tree casting its shadowy lace,

And the forest whispering its embrace,

The cow and sheep found their place,

In a scene of nature’s gentle grace.

I have more company coming, an overnight stay. Continuing with yesterday’s theme, we have been catching up on cleaning this week and Gregg is a great partner in this. However, my OCD kicks in at such times. It certainly helps with our downsizing project, helps with the motivation. I can't do as much as I would like to any more but as Gregg reminds me, they are not here to inspect the condition of our home and besides, that's what locks on the door are for. Throw everything into the spare room and start again when things are quiet. Grinning from ear to ear here!

Thank you my Dear Knight in Shining Armor who has just painted the laundry room closet and put together a new shelf unit which fits neatly inside.  Amazingly it is already full of things I have wanted to tuck away from sight and sound, things we still use but not quite as much (kitchen counter tops are relatively free and clear). We are continuing our clearing out of things to take down to the local church - clothes, old kitchen appliances, old pots and pans, all decent to the eye and still working but we won’t use anymore, and probably never will. They will hopefully do someone some good. We have named this year our downsizing year - it's time!

Thanks for all the visits and comments. Always enjoy reading them.

I will be catching up with you all again next week.

A LITTLE HUMOR TODAY - IF A CUP OF…

If a cup of coffee doesn’t fix it,
then it is officially time to add chocolate!

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - LOUD?

Blue Jay had his say!

But so are you my dear Blue Jay. The experts say your calls can be very loud, and can sound like a scream, especially your alarm calls which alert everyone. So good for you Mr. Blue Jay!

Another hero! Well done my fine feathered friend!

He would have had his answer, but Camera Lady tripped over the Froggy Zen Master. After many utterances which raised Zen Master's eyes to the ceiling, he thought it prudent to leave and let her practice more Zen on her own.

But first he left her with this, "A Zen state, also known as mindfulness, is a state of calm attentiveness where one is fully present in the moment, free from excessive thought or attachment to external stimuli. It's about being aware of your surroundings and inner experience simultaneously, allowing you to respond consciously and effectively. This state can be cultivated through practices like meditation and mindful living." And he then said, "You have a long way to go. More practice!"

And that is how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

A POSITIVITY POST TODAY - MORE FAMILY PHOTOS SOON.

and say that…

for as we all know, there are some days when…

So…

Got your ears on?

But once you’re done with that…

and take things…

ponder life…

and remember…

So, maybe it’s time to play in a muddy puddle or two, but…

when your friends start looking at you like this…

you can say…

mission accomplished
because you got through another week!

Thanks for stopping by and…

(With thanks to Pinterest for many of my graphics and inspiration today.)
