Laura Elizabeth Ingalls Wilder (February 7th, 1867 - February 10, 1957) was an American writer. The Little House on the Prairie series of children's books, published between 1932 and 1943, were based on her childhood and adolescence in a settler and pioneer family. The television series Little House on the Prairie (1974-1983) was loosely based on the books and starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura, and Michael Landon as her father, Charles Ingalls. Ingalls was a descendant of the Delano family, the ancestral family of U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. One paternal ancestor, Edmund Ingalls, from Skirbeck, Lincolnshire, England, emigrated to America, settling in Lynn Massachusetts. Laura was the 7th great-granddaughter of the Mayflower passenger Richard Warren. She was a third cousin once removed of the U.S. President and Civil War General, Ulysses S. Grant.

I am sure he will Margaret :) I watched the show also, and enjoyed it very much.
DeleteWonderful! I love the way you can take a quote and make an interesting or humorous scene out of it! Love the little added bluebird and butterfly, too! But, I'm still terrified of spiders, even if they are miniscule! I guess because of visions of my mom running around screaming with the broom. As IF that would kill a spider!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ginny :) Well, I don’t make light of any one’s phobias as the fear is very real. I was scared of the big garden spiders that would make it into the house when I was a child. My Dad’s solution was a large empty cereal box and a gull’s feather he picked up out of the garden dropped by one of the many who flew in every day. He would slide the box under the spider and gently flick it into the box, then release it outside, a good distance away from the house. He would always say he’s a small little thing compared to you. He’s more afraid of you than you are of him. Mum would take over the task if he was at work but it was mostly Dad as they seemed to come out at night, and even then not very often. Mind you, we didn’t have to contend with poisonous spiders like in other countries. There is the black widow here though I haven’t seen one in years, and the brown recluse which I have never seen thankfully :)

DeleteLaura Ingalls Wilder was absolutely right. And nature this time of year is especially colorful and beautiful. I loved those books ...we visited one of her homes (now museum) when we were traveling (Bill indulged me way with more time than he needed but I hated to leave. Brought back so many good memories.
