JUST A SHORT POST TODAY.

When we were out this morning we passed by my favorite house for Halloween decorations. I recognized some old ones from last year, but also new. I don't decorate myself but I do enjoy seeing others around our neighborhood.

Beware, there be witches about!

"When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, 'tis near Halloween."

Well, not quite yet, but it will be here before we know it. We will be buying candy to hand out to the kiddos. One of my sister-in-laws years ago used to make her kids their costumes every Halloween. They were always very imaginative and always amazing. I do admire people with that kind of skill.

Thanks for looking and have a great week.

  1. I like this one! The witches are not too scary for kids, and it is done artistically! I enlarged the photos to get a better look. How many do you get for Trick-Or-Treat?

    1. Hi Ginny :) Not as many as in years past, a couple of dozen last time maybe. Our house is not as inviting as we don’t decorate outside, but we have the lights on over the door and it attracts a few.

  2. Very few people decorate for Halloween here. That house goes all out and makes me smile. Thank you.

    1. You are very welcome and thank you Sue. A lot of houses don’t decorate but you can always tell the places with kids, or the places where it’s just as much fun for the adults to decorate :)

  4. Awesome decorations. I like looking at what other people do. I quit decorating for Halloween years ago. I even gave up passing out candy.

    1. Thanks Ann :) as we get older we find it takes up a whole lot of energy getting up and down to answer the door, lol!

  5. I'm quite ambivalent about Hallowe'en. It's definitely growing in popularity here.

  7. I used to enjoy Halloween as a kid but with time and no children where I live, I don't bother with it. Those pictures made me smile though. Have a good day.

    1. Thanks so much! When growing up I knew nothing of Halloween, it wasn’t heard of or thought about. Glad you enjoyed my pictures and you have a good day also :)

  8. It’s still a month away. We do not decorate and since there are fewer and fewer young children in our neighbourhood, hardly any in fact, very little trick or treating goes. Seems to me that the whole event is slowly dying, but maybe that’s an incorrect assumption. Fewer houses than ever decorate, however.

    1. Thank you David :) it still seems very popular in my neighborhood but I don’t know what the statistics are.

  9. I really like the wreath on the door and the way the decorations are nestled into the garden.
In Australia people "decorate" with nasty bird killing fake spider web and not much else.

    1. Hi Kylie and welcome :) that wreathe is one I haven’t seen before. I am wondering if they made it themselves. We have big fake spiders here also.

  10. We are with you, Denise, in not decorating for Halloween and the only place we did was at our former VA home. We would place corn stalks in the front yard, pumpkins we had carved and lit with candles and sit on the front porch for the scant number of trick or treaters to come. We also have a scary CD playing on the stereo.

    1. That sounds very pretty Dorothy, and the scary CD would fit right in. Our house is very boring in comparison :)

  14. I enjoyed seeing your featured home all decorated for Halloween. We live in an older neighborhood, but now a lot of new families are moving in. Those with young children have started to decorate. Maybe this year we'll have more treat or treaters!

  16. Hey Denise
I saw a very clever decoration today. A witch on a broom she had collided with a telephone pole. Pretty cute.

    1. Hi Cecilia, that sounds like the witch had a tad too much witches brew, and someone should have taken her broom away from her. I daresay they didn’t want to be turned into a frog :) sending hugs!

    1. Hello Jennifer, very much so. I was surprised when Isaw them so early in September but they would have to decorate this early to make it all worthwhile. We certainly enjoy them.
