When we were out this morning we passed by my favorite house for Halloween decorations. I recognized some old ones from last year, but also new. I don't decorate myself but I do enjoy seeing others around our neighborhood.
Beware, there be witches about!
"When witches go riding, and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers, 'tis near Halloween."
Well, not quite yet, but it will be here before we know it. We will be buying candy to hand out to the kiddos. One of my sister-in-laws years ago used to make her kids their costumes every Halloween. They were always very imaginative and always amazing. I do admire people with that kind of skill.
Thanks for looking and have a great week.
I like this one! The witches are not too scary for kids, and it is done artistically! I enlarged the photos to get a better look. How many do you get for Trick-Or-Treat?
ReplyDeleteHi Ginny :) Not as many as in years past, a couple of dozen last time maybe. Our house is not as inviting as we don’t decorate outside, but we have the lights on over the door and it attracts a few.
DeleteVery few people decorate for Halloween here. That house goes all out and makes me smile. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome and thank you Sue. A lot of houses don’t decorate but you can always tell the places with kids, or the places where it’s just as much fun for the adults to decorate :)
DeleteThat time of year again
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is :)
DeleteGood to see what other people do in their gardens around this time, Denise.
ReplyDeleteThanks Margaret, I enjoy seeing people’s creativity :)
DeleteAwesome decorations. I like looking at what other people do. I quit decorating for Halloween years ago. I even gave up passing out candy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ann :) as we get older we find it takes up a whole lot of energy getting up and down to answer the door, lol!
DeleteI'm quite ambivalent about Hallowe'en. It's definitely growing in popularity here.
ReplyDeleteI completely understand :)!
DeleteI like seeing all the Halloween decorations, people are so creative.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! Take care, have a wonderful day!
Thank you Eileen, I agree, people can be very creative. You take care and have a wonderful day also :)
DeleteI used to enjoy Halloween as a kid but with time and no children where I live, I don't bother with it. Those pictures made me smile though. Have a good day.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! When growing up I knew nothing of Halloween, it wasn’t heard of or thought about. Glad you enjoyed my pictures and you have a good day also :)
DeleteIt’s still a month away. We do not decorate and since there are fewer and fewer young children in our neighbourhood, hardly any in fact, very little trick or treating goes. Seems to me that the whole event is slowly dying, but maybe that’s an incorrect assumption. Fewer houses than ever decorate, however.
ReplyDeleteThank you David :) it still seems very popular in my neighborhood but I don’t know what the statistics are.
DeleteI really like the wreath on the door and the way the decorations are nestled into the garden.
ReplyDeleteIn Australia people "decorate" with nasty bird killing fake spider web and not much else.
Hi Kylie and welcome :) that wreathe is one I haven’t seen before. I am wondering if they made it themselves. We have big fake spiders here also.
DeleteWe are with you, Denise, in not decorating for Halloween and the only place we did was at our former VA home. We would place corn stalks in the front yard, pumpkins we had carved and lit with candles and sit on the front porch for the scant number of trick or treaters to come. We also have a scary CD playing on the stereo.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds very pretty Dorothy, and the scary CD would fit right in. Our house is very boring in comparison :)
DeleteReally cool decoration..though I am not into Halloween at all.
ReplyDeleteHi Angie, thank you! Halloween doesn’t really grab me but I do enjoy the neighborhood decorations :)
DeleteIt sounds like you're excited about the coming of Halloween and getting ready for the fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks Red, not really but I do enjoy the little trick o’ treaters with their cute costumes :)
DeleteThat's the Halloween spirit!
ReplyDeleteYes indeed :)
DeleteLove this house and the decorations! I love this month, and although my kids are grown, still like to decorate and celebrate. Have a lovely day, my friend. Happy October!
ReplyDeleteHi Billie Joe, I look forward to visiting and seeing your Halloween decorations :) Happy October my friend :)
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your featured home all decorated for Halloween. We live in an older neighborhood, but now a lot of new families are moving in. Those with young children have started to decorate. Maybe this year we'll have more treat or treaters!
ReplyDeleteThat’s great Martha Ellen, our neighborhood goes through the same transitions. Maybe we will too :)
DeleteThis is great! I'm toying with not getting more pumpkins!
ReplyDeleteHi Jenn, looking forward to seeing the pumpkins you do have :)
DeleteHey Denise
ReplyDeleteI saw a very clever decoration today. A witch on a broom she had collided with a telephone pole. Pretty cute.
Hugs Cecilia
Hi Cecilia, that sounds like the witch had a tad too much witches brew, and someone should have taken her broom away from her. I daresay they didn’t want to be turned into a frog :) sending hugs!
DeleteLindas brujas. te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMuchas gracias. Te mando un beso.
DeleteI enjoy seeing all the Halloween decorations.
ReplyDeletePeople really have a knack for creativity!
Happy Thursday, Denise!
Thank you Veronica Lee, and I totally agree :)
DeleteThose are such fun decorations!
ReplyDeleteAren’t they? Thank you Rose :)
DeleteThat is a lot of work for yard decorations....always impressed with those who have such creative spirits!
ReplyDeleteHello Jennifer, very much so. I was surprised when Isaw them so early in September but they would have to decorate this early to make it all worthwhile. We certainly enjoy them.
DeleteI don't decorate for Halloween anymore either, Denise. I think I have three witches that are sewn together, and three tiny skeletons. The rest I've given away. It seems that people are getting less and less trick-or-treaters every year.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
Thank you Sheri :) I seem to save all my energy for decorating at Christmas. I might put a few things out for various seasons and I do love seeing our blogging friends places when they decorate. It's the same as in our neighborhood. It is fun to drive around and see what people do.
