I have been late getting back to you all over the last few days, but I will be catching up on my visiting very soon.
It is late and I am behind in putting a post together. I am sharing a quick video for a change of pace, with trees, trees and more trees as we drove along Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park. Also, a little bit of a back-and-forth chit-chat. The video lasts 2 minutes and 43 seconds. I tried to keep it short-ish.
It was a beautiful drive but we saw no animals. We were hoping for deer and even bear - none today. Maybe the bear have already hibernated. It was pretty chilly up the mountains. It often seems when we are out looking for them, none appear. I saw a couple of hawks, a turkey vulture and a few small birds, but none were photo ops. Next time I hope!
There aren't too many photos, but I will share what I have eventually. I ended my video with a rather theatrical "byeeeeee", thinking this would be for the two of us, so don't mind me. I think I channeled my dear Mum as that's how she always ended our phone calls back in the day. But Gregg always encourages me to share on my blog, and said I should post it. I did want you to see how pretty all those trees were as we drove by. We always make a short video on our outings, usually only for the two of us, and our son and daughter-in-law. It's a nice record of where we have been and fun to look at when they pop up a few years later.
(I have no clue how to edit these videos and I'll have to look into it sometime. If anyone wants to give a tutorial on how to shorten them on an iPhone, I would love to see it.)
I really enjoyed coming along on the drive with you. A beautiful drive and lunch at Wendy's, sounds like a perfect day!
ReplyDeleteThat's great Ginny, so glad and thank you :) It certainly was a lovely day.

ReplyDeleteThank you Margaret, so glad you enjoyed :)

Donna
Wonderful, thank you for this great tip Donna. I really appreciate the info. Yes, it's a gorgeous drive. Whenever we go out of Virginia we always try to pick scenic routes, that is when there is time. Sending hugs :)
DeletePS- Fun to hear your voices!!
ReplyDeleteDo more of these...so enjoyable. Do you have a YouTube channel?
Thanks for the encouragement Donna. I have a YouTube channel where I download my videos, but have kept them on the unlisted feature. I have shared videos in the past but the more chit-chat ones I haven't done in a while. Sending more hugs :)
DeleteOne of my favorite drives, I enjoyed the video. Take care, have a great day!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great drive isn't it? :) Thank you Eileen and you take care and have a great day also.
DeleteBeautiful drive, thanks for taking us along!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome :) Happy you enjoyed!
DeleteWhat a beautiful area, Denise. Someday I'd like to see it in person.
ReplyDeleteIt really is Jeanie and one day I hope to go from one end of Skyline Drive to the other. It would be slow going as the road is very winding :) I hope you get to see it one day. It's a beautiful trip.
DeleteI have enjoyed the drive with you...very relaxing and nice.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you did Angie, thank you. Yes, it was very relaxing :)
DeleteEnjoyed the drive with you guys thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's great and thank you Christine :)
DeleteI very much enjoyed the trees, trees are my favorites in nature. I would not want to live in a area where there are no trees. but even more than the trees, I enjoyed your conversation. what a great idea, your family can listen to them when you are gone. I never thought about a conversation recording. I would have to have one with myself, because bob will not let me record him and i only sneak photos of him. I loved the back ad forth ad hearing your voices. also, you do still have your English Accent after all these years. thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandra, I'm the same way. I wouldn't like to be anywhere without trees. I've always found it interesting that I haven't lost my accent after so long. When I have been back in the UK people think I am Canadian. Gregg had to speak in front of people his whole career, so a general chit-chat on a short video isn't bothersome. Listening back to our old videos does hold a lot of good memories of everyday things that we have forgotten but enjoy remembering and a lot of good memories. We started making them for our son, so that he would enjoy them in the future. I would have loved to have heard everyday chit-chat from my parents, Gregg's said that about his too.
DeleteI've never been to Shenandoah National Park but from all the beautiful photos, I know I'd love it.
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed Carol, thank you :)
DeleteA very enjoyable ramble my friend. Thank you and Aloha
ReplyDeleteYou are so very welcome Cloudia, and I wish you the same my friend :)
DeleteThat was sweet to hear your voices and I love the Byeee! What a lovely quiet ride and fun commentary along the way. Happy Wednesday to you and Gregg!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Ellen, you are so kind :) You and your dear family have a happy Wednesday also. I suppose I should say Thursday now. The week is flying!
DeleteBeautiful drive indeed! What a gorgeous area you live. I love this time of year with the colorful foliage. I live in a city but thoroughly enjoy spending time outside the city (as I did today) being closer to nature.
ReplyDeleteYou did great creating your video! I love Wendy's potato as well!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog!
Hello Ron, so good to see you back here :) It's a wonderful time of the year isn't it? Thank you for the compliment on the video. Those potatoes are excellent, and I like them when they serve them very hot. We don't live in the city but our area is still busy and gets very congested with traffic. I tend to avoid the freeways as much as I can as rush-hour seems to be every hour, especially with all the never-ending roadworks lately. I love heading out to the countryside and fortunately it's not a long drive to get there. I enjoyed my visit to your blog and look forward to coming back. Enjoy the rest of your week :)
DeleteWhat a pretty and peaceful drive, and you can see all the trees displaying their Autumn loveliness. And I loved hearing your voice, Denise! You know, some people have said that I have an accent when I talk. I was surprised to hear that, but they said it sounds like a bit of a western draw haha.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
It was lovely Sheri :) a vert peaceful drive. I would enjoy hearing your accent Sheri. Perhaps you can do a video like this one, no pressure though says I with a smile ;)
DeleteWhat a wonderful drive that was. Thanks for taking us along.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ann and you are very welcome, glad you enjoyed :)
DeleteIt was so lovely listening to you and Gregg give your commentary on your drive on the Skyline. We were just saying this may be our first year not visiting up there with all the health issues we have been addressing. So thank you for letting us see your views that day. Also I loved hearing both of your voices--just as lovely as I thought they would be!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet, thank you Martha Ellen, you are very kind :) and you are very welcome. I hope it won’t be too long before you and Grayden can enjoy it soon. It really is lovely in every season.
DeleteThat was a lovely drive, and it looked as though you practically had the road to yourselves.
ReplyDeleteThanks you Sandra, and yes it was a great outing and so quiet apart from a few cars.
DeleteA lovely drive.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly was, thank you William :)
