THE CARDINAL HIGH ON A BRANCH IN ONE OF OUR TREES

I have been visited by a Red Cardinal every evening for about a week.  It surprised me as I haven't been feeding the birds since hearing of the bear sighting several weeks ago, though I still make sure there is a dish of water out there.  Maybe he comes for that.
When I thought it was time to fill the feeders again, I spotted a hawk making its temporary home in the trees out back.  I would often see him on the hunt.  I may be waiting a few more days.
No photos of the hawk but the Cardinal posed nicely in a tree out back, even though it was a dull, dreary day.
I hadn't seen a female Cardinal for a couple of months and then one landed on a branch last evening.
She didn't stay long enough for me to get a photo.
The male finally landed on the top of the hanger where I normally keep my sunflower feeder full of birdseed.  I was able to get better photos
You can read more about him here.
I'm glad this one decided to visit.
Don't you just love that up-do?

  1. He is a very handsome dude. And for sure he must be your most beautiful visitor. Bummer that the bear is interfering with your bird feeding!

    1. Thank you so much :) It gets very hot out there I have to remember to put the water in the shade as I've noticed if it gets too hot, they are smart enough not to touch it. I refill every day with nice and fresh, clean, cool water.

  14. Beautiful pictures of the cardinals. The last couple are so sharp and have wonderful detail. Some of them look as though the cardinal is posing just for you.

Thanks for visiting my blog. The guys in Standing at the Edge are wearing harnesses, but you have to enlarge the pictures (by double clicking on them) and look close to see them. Even so, I would never ever dream of doing anything like that. They must love a thrill.

  15. I just love cardinals, Denise. Your male is a beauty and I do like his up-do! I'm sorry you can't feed him because of a bear sighting! Our daughter lives in New England and she can't feed the birds for the same reason.

    1. I'm happy to see our frequent visitor. I'd also love to see the birds you see that we don't. That's the fun part about traveling and you see the best of both sides of the country. Color me envious :)

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.

I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
