BUTTERFLIES IN THE MIMOSA TREE

For several hours last week, talking and chatting away in a lovely shaded garden with other tall trees, I saw a Mimosa in the neighbor's garden.  It was covered with butterflies.  I couldn't take my eyes off them, something I had in common with my daughter-in-law.  We were both enjoying these flying flowers, as I have heard them called.  

Not as close and consequently not as sharp as I would have liked these photos to be, but this is another memory of time spent with family in a quiet spot in the garden, overlooking a lovely pond.  An idyllic place to spend a 4th of July family picnic and one where we were very grateful to those who had brought us all together in such pretty surroundings.

The Persian Silk Tree, Albizia julibrissin, is a species of tree in the family Fabaceae, native to southwestern and eastern Asia.  The genus is named after the Italian nobleman, Filippo degli Albizzi, who introduced it to Europe in the mid-18th century, and it is sometimes incorrectly spelled Albizzia.  

This tree can grow between 10 to 50 feet in height, and can last 10 to 45 years in the wild.  There is more information at this link.
