MY TRAIL CAMERA INFORMATION, OTHERWISE NICKNAMED DECK CAM

Dorothy, aka Beatrice at The Frog and The Penquin, asked if I would give some information about the motion censor camera.  I use it on the deck to photograph our backyard birds, squirrels, and sometimes racoons.

I don't know why I picked this one in particular, as there are many available.  I bought it with an Amazon gift card and you can see it here.  Maybe you have one that you can also recommend.  I intend to add another sometime, to put it in another part of our garden.

It is described as:

"FLAGPOWER Trail Camera 16MP 1080P Hunting Game Camera with Night Vision Motion Activated IP66 Waterproof 120 Detecting Range Motion Activated Night Vision 2.4" LCD IR LEDs 32 GB Memory Card
This was a gift from my family in Germany last Christmas, for which I am still thanking them for.  I get a lot of enjoyment out of it, and now we have started taking it with us on trips.
I use the strap and not the attachment, to attach it to a post in front of the bird feeding area, or you can tie it to a tree as I did when we went away recently. It is left out for about 24 hours, sometimes longer, and I download it from the camera to my laptop.

It is rainproof but I have noticed that the lens fogs up a bit when it rains.  It can also bring some neat effects at such times. This is not a deterrent for me as the lens always clears before it is retrieved.

You may have also seen in my deck cam posts that it takes a video. This can be done when you do the settings.  I time them for 10 seconds but you can make them longer. You can do without the video if you prefer.

The batteries last about five days, depending on how many visitors you get.  We get a lot.  They take AA batteries and we get them in bulk from Costco.

I hope those of you who have one can offer more information as I would be very interested in any tips and tricks you can pass on.
Hopefully you have found this useful.  Thanks for looking and have a great day.

  5. Hi Denise and thanks for providing all the info about your deck cam in reply to my question. The cost looked quite reasonable considering all the fun and great nature shots you have been posting. Unfortunately, in our current apt home, we wouldn’t be able to try one, but I so enjoy your captures. Thanks again, Dorothy

    1. You are very welcome Dorothy, and it would be difficult to use in your apartment. Maybe on your travels though? When we set up ours for the first time, it was fun to see what we had captured.

    1. It took me a long time to get one Sandra, it was always low on my priority list. But then the time was right and I'm glad I bought it. Those outside selfies of you and Big I would enjoy. I haven't tried taking selfies but do pick up candid shots when I refill the birdseed.

Thank you so for taking the time to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them very much and always try to return a visit. As I do monitor comments it may take a while for them to appear, even quite late depending on what is going on and how much time I am able to spend on the computer.

I appreciate all who look at my blog, but I won't be publishing any businesses. If you are only able to publish anonymously, would you sign your name please, and leave an addy so I can return your visit where possible? Thank you!
