SERAPHINA AT WALNEY POND - DOGGY FIX FOR TODAY

 

Let me introduce you to Seraphina.  I met her at Walney Pond the other day.  She was sitting on the boardwalk with her human, and they were looking in the same direction, very focused on something they had seen in the pond.  I had a feeling I knew what it was, as we had come for the same hopeful sighting.

Her lady human looked up at me and smiled.  Without me saying a word my expression must have asked the question. She volunteered what they were looking at.  But first I asked lady human permission to say hello to her dog, who was already making her way over to me for a head rub and an ear scratch.  I readily gave her those. 

I learned this sweet little dog had not been very well of late. Lady human told me they had just come back from the vet.  After chatting for 10 minutes or so, we said our goodbyes. Feel better soon Seraphina, and I gave her another gentle hug and an ear scratch.  I took this photo when they were leaving. We then walked down the path to a bench shaded by lots of overhanging, leaf-laden branches.  An idyllic spot to look at all the activity on the pond.  We sat and waited.

I think the name Seraphina is beautiful by the way. It fit our new furry friend like an old-fashioned lace glove.

Our Seraphina from the pond was definitely a little Angel.

CHASING THE CLOUDS

 

I was very happy to get this photo.  We were on a Saturday afternoon road trip going through the countryside (the 22nd).  Gregg spotted a deer crossing the road three hundred yards in front of us.  I got my cell phone ready and pointed it towards the spot where she disappeared - hoping but keeping expectations low - and there she was on the hill just coming into frame as we drove by.  One of nature’s amazing gifts.  It was another perfect day for a drive, an incredible blue sky and white, puffy clouds. There were no other deer that we could see.  Perhaps she was joining her family in the tree line that we had just passed.

LEFT-HANDED?

Gregg told me it was Left-handed Day (He is the left-hander in our family and I wrote this last Friday when it actually was Left-handed Day).  

I laughed when he sent me this cartoon. He has acknowledged his left-handedness several times over the years.  I can see all these apply but the caption in the lower right tickled my funny bone particularly. That is so true!  He said did you know that Napoleon was left-handed, Prince William too?  No, I didn’t know that I said.  And then he rattled off several other notable left-handers.  He will say on occasion while looking at the TV, look, he (or she) is left-handed.  Of course, I have a lot of things I say that tickles his funny bone, but not going there today.
