I thought this was colorful and very cheery. As I didn't have much else prepared, I thought to share it.
It has been hot and humid and I'm sure many are experiencing the same. There have been a couple of thunderstorms over the last two days. We saw several downed trees yesterday when out and about. No bad weather on this sunny day.
We went out yesterday and it was fun. However, those early settlers have my never-ending admiration, also the people who were here long before them. It doesn't really bother Gregg much. He grew up in Virginia. He threw many a baseball in the sandlot on days like this. How about further south or those in the tropics? How do you all handle these sweltering days?
We came across a new park he saw online, not too far away. We couldn’t believe that we had never heard of the place. Called a hidden gem by the person on the video, it was indeed and only 35-40 minutes away. We asked one of the staff how long it had been designated a public park and he said 20 years. Never even heard anyone mention it on our trips to other parks all these years. It was relatively quiet even on a Saturday. Lovely to discover somewhere new I must say.
The other people we saw was a group of what looked like high-school graduates renting kayaks. The last time meet up before they all went their separate ways Gregg thought. There was a boat ramp nearby and several cars were in the nearby parking lot. I will write a post about the place next week.
Not much else to say so will wish you all a happy Sunday and a great week coming up.
Also, thanks for stopping by, always very much appreciated.

I love the puzzle! Does the park have a name?
ReplyDeleteYes it does Ginny, I forgot to put it in. It’s called Fountainhead Regional Park. Happy you liked the puzzle :)
DeleteLovely picture—pure summer. We have fields of poppies and cornflowers right now, with oxeye daisies mixed in, too... so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt’s much cooler where I am; you might like it—though I’m looking forward to sun and warmth. Sending you warm regards.
Greetings Viola :) it sounds wonderful where you are with all the flowers. I expect I would enjoy your cooler weather. I send you warm regards also.
DeleteYour puzzle looks good. Sue has been going real ones lately. They take up a lot of room.
ReplyDeleteThank you John, I have enjoyed doing puzzles since I was a little kid. I was given a 1000 piece a while back but will have to figure out where I can set it up too. They certainly do take up a lot of room :)
DeleteLooks very attractive indeed. I bet it was fun doing it.
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun, thank you David :)
DeleteThat is a pretty picture. The park sounds nice. How funny that it's been there so long and you've never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, all those bright and colorful flowers just drew me in. I also agree about not knowing about this park, extraordinary! It was described as a hidden gem and we did wonder where the GPS was taking us to :) Thanks Ann!
DeleteThat is a great puzzle picture. I would like that too. And We have finally had a break in the humidity and this week it will be 10 degrees cooler. I can't wait. I felt very stuck inside with the AC running. Congrats on discovering a new park too. I hope you have photos to share. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erika, it will be fun to look at the park again. This was a shorter trip as it was very hot and humid. Good to hear the weather has given you a break. You enjoy the rest of your weekend too :)
DeleteLots of on and off again rain here all week. I would love to play in a field of flowers like shown in the picture.
ReplyDeleteThat was like last week for us :) Now wouldn’t that be nice? A lovely thought, thanks Ivy.
Delete❤️
DeleteA new park! The puzzle is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYes, always doing a happy dance (in my head) when I go to a new place :) Thank you Jenn, glad you enjoyed the puzzle too.
DeleteHello! I love what Gregg said about those high school kids. It is funny, isn't it? You go through those four years of high school with your friends, thinking it will last forever. Then you are all happy together graduating, completely unaware that no matter if and when you meet again, it will never be the same. Great observation by Gregg. Have a cozy summer afternoon, my friend.
ReplyDeleteHe has a way of saying things must admit. Today’s comment came from remembering his own high school graduation I think :) you have a cozy summer afternoon also, and a very enjoyable week.
DeleteDenise, I can't wait to learn more about this place. Sometimes we visit the destinations everyone knows about and expects us to see, but hidden just outside them are little gems like the one you discovered. And the fact that it wasn't packed with people hopefully gave you some peaceful moments to truly enjoy it. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your adventures there.
ReplyDeleteI will be putting together a post about the place in the next day or so :) I didn’t take many photos as it was way too hot and humid. But will definitely explore further on our next trip :)
DeleteWOW x 10000 I you obviously have great hand eye coordination. All those colors so similar. You and Gregg had a nice outing
ReplyDeleteHugs cecilia
Very kind of you Cecilia, it was a fun puzzle to put together, as with my eye issues I haven’t been able to read or do these for a while. It felt good to start one again. Thank you, it was a lovely outing :) Hugs, Denise
DeleteHow nice to discover a new place to visit.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed :)
DeleteThat is a lovely looking puzzle.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Wishes to you.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan, it was a fun one. Happy Sunday wishes to you also and all the best :)
DeleteLots of color - makes it more difficult but more fun
ReplyDeleteYes, I found it more challenging but find a piece after looking for a while, was very rewarding :) and definitely fun!
DeleteHappy Sunday Denise! The puzzle is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to check out new parks.
Take care, enjoy your day and the new week ahead.
I am late catching up and it is already the following Wednesday Eileen. But I hope your Sunday was a good one, as was mine. It is fun checking out new parks I agree. You take care and enjoy your day and new week also. Halfway through now. Where does the time go? :)
DeleteHappy Sunday to you. How nice to find a hidden gem of a park close enough to visit. Have a good new week!
ReplyDeleteAnd to you also Ellen :) It was a real treat to find a new place to explore. You have a good week too.
DeleteVery pretty puzzle.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, happy you think so :)
DeleteThat digital jigsaw puzzle is so vibrant and definitely brings a bright, cheerful energy to a Sunday! Discovering a gorgeous hidden gem of a park just 40 minutes away after 20 years is the ultimate weekend surprise, especially when you have it mostly to yourself on a busy Saturday. It must have been bittersweet seeing those graduates renting kayaks for one last big hangout before heading off on their separate paths. As for the sweltering humidity, I usually handle it by staying glued to the air conditioning or finding a shady spot with a massive glass of iced tea, because my admiration for the early settlers definitely peaks on days like that! I cannot wait to read your full post about the new park next week.
ReplyDeleteVery kind of you. I will have a post ready when time allows. I have quite a busy week ahead but I am looking forward to sharing the few photos I took. We are very fortunate to have air-conditioning aren't we? My husband is a big drinker of iced tea, has it every day. Me not so much :) you will usually find me drinking a very large glass of water with a slice of lemon. Very touching to see those graduates, they all looked so young and eager, excited to take their next step in life no doubt. I wish you a great week Melody and look forward to visiting soon.
DeleteThat puzzle is so bright and beautiful. I like how you two found a new place!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandie, after all this time it was a surprise to say the least :) glad you liked the puzzle. You described it for everything I enjoyed about it myself. Thank you and have a great week.
DeleteUy que lindo. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMe alegra que te haya gustado. Muchas gracias y te mando un beso.
DeleteI love your jigsaw puzzle, Denise. It’s been rather hot and humid here in Hawaii too, I’m afraid.
ReplyDeleteGreat, thank you Kay :) It seems as though we are all experiencing hot and human weather, doesn't it?
Deletethe puzzle is stunning. love it!!! as for the heat that is in our back yard AKA Sahara desert, only with humidity, I stay in doors. I make Beau come inside because I can't stand to be out there. I don't do outdoors except from 6:20 to 7:30, at 7 I wake everyone up because I can't mulch dead leaves and it takes me half an hour. the drought is killing our beautiful Florida... and me and the heat is horrid
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked the jigsaw puzzle Sandra :) and oh dear, that does sound horrid. I hope your drought ends soon. I only remember Florida as a lush and vibrant tropical paradise. Here’s wishing you rain and cooler days.
DeleteIt looks nice :-D
ReplyDeleteThank you Ananka, it certainly was :)
DeleteAlways a delight to find a hidden treasure of a place to visit. I'm glad you found it and enjoyed visiting. Lovely puzzle picture on your I-Pad.
ReplyDeleteThank you Beverley, it certainly was :) Glad you enjoyed and the puzzle too :)
