ODDS AND BODS - 2/25/26

I wish you all a wonderful day but first…
let’s get this woman another hobby!

Looks good to me!

How about a word to think about?

Pootling - to move or travel slowly, aimlessly and in a leisurely, relaxed manner, often with no specific purpose.
Cottage Positive Vibes

Excuse me but I have some pootling to do.

Are you pootling?

Let’s visit the birds for a little while…

Did you know?

The Brick Hack
Saving the Thirsty Ones When Everything is Frozen
Dark brick absorbs sunlight, reaches 50 degrees Fahrenheit plus, even in freezing air
Cardinal - winter resident, needs water daily to survive
Chickadee - loses 10 percent body weight in water daily through breathing
Squirrel- can’t break through ice, relies on open water sources
Shallow dish - 1 to 2 inches deep safe for all sizes
Liquid water - stays unfrozen hours longer around the warm brick
Ice at edges - proof the brick is keeping the center liquid

Here is my dream cottage today.

The kitchen, heart of the home.

A cozy chair to curl up on. I will take the chair if the little sweetie comes with it.

A bedroom with a perfect view.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful to put this exquisite vase of flowers on the windowsill?

A poem…

In the heart of winter’s stillness,
we find our strength.
Through the longest nights and
deepest drifts, love is our anchor.
It is a silent promise,
held warm against the cold,
guiding us through every season.
For in each other, we are home,
no matter how wild the world becomes.
Esthetic Echoes

Here are a few recipes. I haven’t made them but they sound good…

Mile High Biscuits
Excellent!
3 cup flour
3/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
4-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup milk
Mix all ingredients in order given, except egg, which is added to the milk. Knead 3 minutes. Cut with round cookie cutter and bake at 450 degrees F.for 12 minutes.

and maybe some butter to go on those biscuits?

Texas Roadhouse Butter
2 sticks unsalted butter (room temperature)
3/4 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup honey
2 teaspoons cinnamon
How to make:
Dump everything together and whip until smooth and fluffy.

I will be making this soup next. Link to blog here

I enjoy making a mug cake on occasion, when the sweet tooth pounces. This will be my next one.

Pioneer Woman’s Chocolate Mug Cake
3 tablespoons of flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
Dash of salt
1/4 tablespoon baking powder
Stir.
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
Dash of vanilla
Chocolate chips (optional)
Stir.
Microwave for 90 seconds.

I think these are always interesting.

Recipe Measuring Equivalents
Spoon and Cup Conversions
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
8th of a cup = 2 tablespoons
1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons
1/3 cup = 5 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon
1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons
2/3 cup = 10 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons
1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
Liquid Measurements
1 pint = 2 cups
1 quart = 2 pints
1 quart = 4 cups
1 gallon = 4 quarts
Weight
1 pound = 16 ounces

For dinner yesterday I ate a light supper and was so hungry before bed, I broke down and fixed myself a slice of toast with jam. I can’t remember the last time I did that but was it good!

I slept like a baby!

Wherever you are I wish you Peace,
Have a wonderful day and always remember,

You are Beautiful
You are Kind
You are Brave
You are Amazing
You are Smart
You are Strong
and most of all…
You are Important
YOU ARE LOVED

See you soon and thanks for visiting.

  6. Throughout my life I have done my fair share of pootling and don’t plan to stop. In fact, I may pootle more frequently! Maybe I’ll even form a society of pootlers. I suspect the membership would swell instantly!

As I write this I am debating whether to make a loaf of bread, or not. Do we really need the calories? Grin. Hope you have some sunshine. hugs-Erika

    1. Wonderful, thank you kindly Erika :) a very good excuse to pootle with all your snow around. You are very welcome and where calories are concerned, a little bit of what you fancy does you good. My advice, bake that bread. There will be sunshine soon to take you out of the house. Naughty of me to encourage you I know :))) hugs, Denise

    1. Wonderful! We should all take the time for a bit of pootling and happy in the knowing, you feel better. As for the cottage, the key is under the mat. You can let yourself in, stay as long as you want :) Happy you enjoyed the recipes too. Thanks Sandra!

  17. I love the word poodling. Can I borrow that sometime? Are you saying a brick has water in it? I didn't know that. We have the exact same tastes - cottage - aqua - kitchen - bedroom - flowers. Only thing is the cat - I have allergies. I love this.

    1. Hi Sandie and yes, I would love if you borrowed it. I borrowed it originally from Pinterest, and many others. I don't think the brick has water in it. It just absorbs heat and keeps the water around it from freezing longer. Nice that we have the same tastes. My dear hubby is not a cat person. I on the other hand had one as a furry family member for many years as a child - fortunately no allergies - and I loved him dearly :) Glad you love my post, thank you so much!
