From my archives, photos taken December 2009. I loved going to this shopping mall just to see the decorations (I am no longer a mall shopper, not that I ever was). Unfortunately, the mall changed hands many, many years ago and that was the last I saw of them. I am thankful I have these photos to remember them and being reminded of the great pleasure of showing them to my own son when he was very young, and later to visiting family and friends.
Anyone who knows me will need no guesses as to why I enjoy these Christmas decorations. They have been put out on display for many years, I feel like they are old friends. We got on the elevator and went down to the ground floor.
I don't go to the mall very often, as I'm not one of the keenest shoppers, only when it's absolutely necessary. I always carry a camera in my purse and was prepared knowing that they would be once again on display.
Smile!
Don't worry, this tiger might look fierce, but the bunny is safe. I have it on good authority that he is a vegetarian. They are in fact very good friends and share cucumber sandwiches with the crusts cut off.
I enjoyed these quotes from "The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling...
...which may also not be a surprise that it is my all-time favorite children's story.
...for though they are little and fussy, it may be the Bear is their mother." Rudyard was a pretty smart man.
Last one of a window display.
Thanks for dropping by
and have a great day!

The holiday decorations are so amazing.
ReplyDeleteI always thought that also Angie :)
DeleteThey are spectacular, and I have loved looking at every one of them. My favorites are the Cheetahs, the Baboon, and the little cub climbing up the railing. Malls are really out of style now, and so many are closing!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny, glad you enjoyed :) I agree about the malls.
DeleteI'm so impressed by all these large animals and the beautiful decorations!
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful! I would have gone in there just for the animals. I'm not a fan of large department stores either. We don't have them here anymore; they closed down years ago. I'd have to go to a big city like Hamburg!
I wish you a good day, hugs Elke
Thank you Elke :) and that’s very interesting. I also wish you a good day, hugs Denise
DeleteStunning theme and displays! Cool critters in this case. Linda in Kansas
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, and thank you :)
DeleteLovely post! Have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, and you have a nice day also :)
DeleteHow wonderful to see these photos of the decorations in the Mall. They do look great, Denise.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed them Margaret, thank you :)
DeleteWow, what amazing decorations. I would have loved to have seen these in person
ReplyDeleteI was always happy to see them and they brought everyone who did a huge smile. Thanks Ann :)
DeleteOh, I can totally understand why such an atmospheric shopping centre is fun. I like it too. And with its Jungle Book theme, I find it twice as lovely. I think we need a little fairy tale magic even as adults, and I'm always looking for it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind words in your last comment, I really appreciated it.
Seasons greetings by Heidrun ☃️
Thank you so much Erica :) I agree with you, I am too. I enjoyed my visit to your blog very much and look forward to coming again. I appreciate you visiting me. Seasons greetings from Virginia.
DeleteI haven't been to the mall in ages, but if our mall was as lovely as this, I'd be there in a heartbeat. These are just fantastic decorations!
ReplyDeleteAs would I Jeanie, the malls just don't pull me to them and the ones they have, there are many empty spaces. Sadly, I think their days are numbered :(
DeleteWhat a lovely display - just perfect for young families. It's a shame the mall has changed hands so many times.
ReplyDeleteA sign of the times I believe Janice :)
DeleteI want the Kangaroo! I too haven't been to a mall in forever. There is one an hour away but it is only partially filled with shops now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful decorations.
Isn't it great? I love kangaroos :) Our closest mall is about 20 minutes away, but I can't remember the last time I went to it.
DeleteI don’t think that I have anything like that, but you remind me that once upon a time going downtown to see the Christmas displays in the windows of the big stores was a pleasant experience. Those stores are mow gone.
ReplyDeleteNow that would have been wonderful :) Times are changing for such things.
DeleteThese decorations remind me of how wonderful malls were some 20 years ago. They've not been as popular for some time now in many areas, which is sad.
ReplyDeleteVery sad and I agree with the rest of your comment :)
DeleteHoly wow! They really went all out. What a shame it's not done anymore.
ReplyDeleteThey certainly did go all out and yes, such a shame :)
DeleteLovely memories
ReplyDeleteVery much so :)
DeleteDenise what beautiful photos of the Mall of yesteryear
ReplyDeleteOurs was recently purchased by group out of Santa Monica....who buys malls to refurbish. Thankful they are not demo but and mall walkers can still use it.
Hugs Cecilia
Thank you Cecilia :) That's so nice that this new company refurbishes. There's hope yet! Hugs, Denise xo
DeleteHello Denise,
ReplyDeleteWonderful Christmas decorations, I love all the animals on display.
Take care, have a great day!
Thank you Eileen, so glad. You take care and have a great day also :)
DeleteI've never seen a Christmas display with all the wild animals! Such fun!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't help but wonder where on earth they store all of these the rest of the year--lol! Can you imagine how much space they would take up? Wow! Impressive. :)
I thought the same thing Rita, where DO they store all those animals? I wonder if they are gathering dust somewhere. Hopefully they will appear again down the road :) LOTS of space needed for them, that's for sure.
DeleteThese photos brought back a memory - Christmas decorations in the Columbia Mall in Columbia,MD. For many years they would build a Christmas tree made up of poinsettias. It was lovely to see. No malls around here to peruse the decorations.
ReplyDeleteThe poinsettia tree sounds beautiful Marcia :)
DeleteI have never seen decorations like this. I do love it and it is so festive, Love that Tiger, but have no favorite, they are all amazing. maybe the giraffe if I had to pick a fav.. our mall shut its doors many years ago and I have never been to the new one that is 18 miles away, because it is 18 miles of horrendous traffic... my cousin was going to drive me out there to see it but bob's illness stopped that.
ReplyDeleteI always have a hard time picking a favorite Sandra :) As for your other comments, that's one of the benefits of living in suburbia I guess, things are closer to get to.
DeleteI'm not a mall shopper either . . . some of the younger family members enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI did enjoy seeing your photographs though, thank you.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan, I think you have to be younger to tackle those crowded malls :) Glad you enjoyed the photos and you are very welcome. All the best to you too, Denise xo
Deleteoooooh did i ever enjoy the tour!! i am neither a shopper or a mall shopper. i would visit this mall, just to see the decorations!! wonderful!!!
ReplyDeleteThat makes my heart happy Debbie, and same here :)
DeleteI do remember when malls were decorated so nicely, but this one is really unique with all the animals. I would have gone just to see it too - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever seen anything before or after to match up to this wonderful display. Thanks Martha :)
DeleteMe gusta el tigre y los pingüinos. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDelete¡Animales maravillosos! :) Gracias y te mando un beso.
DeleteI like the monkey riding on the giraffe. It's a shame the mall doesn't decorate like they used to.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great one :) It is a shame I agree.
DeleteWow! What a place! And a shame it's gone
ReplyDeleteIt was a sad day for many when there were no more animal displays :(
