We were driving home in the dark the other night and I asked my dear other half if he would take me through a couple of the neighborhoods around here. This is what we found.
I am not one for decorating for Halloween, never have been. I made Halloween Cookies when our son was young and all his friends were visiting, but those designs were about as tame as it could get. I enjoy seeing how others decorate their front gardens. Skeletons were very popular this year! I think these would give me nightmares.
From the same front yard.
I recognize Beetlejuice.
He went 'thataway!'
At another home.
And another.
And another.

Thanks for looking everyone.
Have a great day!
What fun, Denise! Beautiful photos of these fantastic Halloween displays! Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend.
ReplyDeleteHello dear friend :) Happy you enjoyed them and you are very welcome :)
DeleteWow, those are Halloween decorations, great photos!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can hardly see anything here. A carved pumpkin in front of a door.
We don't have any children collecting candy either.
I don't like anything spooky either; I don't have anything at home; I'd rather have something autumnal.
have a good halloween time, hugs Elke
Thank you Elke :) There was no Halloween events or decorations when I was growing up in the UK. Our neighborhood here goes in cycles regarding children being given candy door-to-door, depending on how many move into the neighborhood. It's been very quiet the last few years. I also think there are more community gatherings at the local centers. I am very happy adding autumnal decorations and have treated myself to a couple of things this year. Hugs, Denise xo
DeleteThese are so much like the ones around here. OY, with so many skeletons!! I do think the last one is kind of pretty, especially with the blue and green lights. And the big white bird is very unusual, wonder what the story is with that...
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your neighborhood decorations Ginny. That white bird, it is very hard to tell but it is dog, a character from the movie Nightmare Before Christmas. called Zero, the Ghost Dog. All the others are characters from the movie too. Never actually saw it but did a search on Google using this photo.
DeleteI would love a Skeletons in my house, always wanted one but never did get one.
ReplyDeleteThose front yards are looking good, Denise.
They are sold in many of the stores at this time of the year, and am glad you enjoyed my pics, thanks Margaret :)
DeleteSome people get right into it. We don't bother. We never celebrated in Australia when I was young but the American influence has seeped into our culture and so some younger people decorate .
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, that's interesting. I expect it's the same in the UK now :)
DeleteI am okay seeing what other people do for decorations but I have never been into decorating, either. In fact, not for any holidays except I used to put up a tree for Christmas. Haven't even done that for years. Maybe this year I will have a tabletop tree again. :)
ReplyDeleteSame here Rita. My favorite time is Christmas for decorating. A tabletop tree sounds really nice :)
DeleteThey are obviously not into energy conservation and I can’t imagine their electricity bill.
ReplyDeleteI wondered about that myself :)
DeleteThose are some neat decorations. I don't decorate for Halloween anymore. Not many of my neighbors do either. On my ride to work though I see lots of houses with decorations. I can't help thinking about all the money people spent on them.
ReplyDeleteIt must be a very, very expensive hobby! :)
DeleteWe don't celebrate Halloween here, but it's always fun to see those creative decorations.
ReplyDeleteI agree Angie :)
DeleteFun post Denise! I like seeing all the Halloween decorations. Take care, have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThey are fun to see. Thank you Eileen, I wish you the same :)
DeleteEs una bonita costumbre, que no se debe perder.
ReplyDeleteQue tengas una bonita mañana.
Estoy de acuerdo, las tradiciones son muy importantes :) Gracias, te deseo que tengas una buena semana.
DeleteThose are excellent displays. Maybe I should do a drive-around soon.
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy looking at your photos AC :)
DeleteThere are a few in our rural area that have outdone themselves with skeletons climbing their houses and all sorts of fun things. That one coming out of the ground gave me a second look!
ReplyDeleteFun.
Me too, in fact we went around again just to take a better look :)
DeleteOh, these photos made me laugh! 👻 Some of those decorations really are spooky — I’m sure I’d have nightmares too.
ReplyDeleteGive me glowing garden bees and flower lights any day instead! 🐝🌸
Thanks for sharing — this was such fun to see. 🎃
You are very welcome and I m very happy they gave you a laugh and you thought them fun Aritha :) I already miss the bees.
DeleteThese are so good.

Thank you Regine, I thought so too :)
DeleteI like the pumpkins, but the rest I can happily do without, curmudgeon that I am!
ReplyDeleteSmiling here and no curmudgeon found :) you know what you like.
DeleteDecorations for Halloween are way more elaborate than they where when my son was a boy.
ReplyDeleteMine too Sandra :)
DeleteWe put out pumpkins the first of Oct which used thru November.
ReplyDeleteEven when I use my front porch hanging decor with the cat in a witches hat it is so cute I keep it up thru Nov.
Those folks you saw are seriously in to decorating and OM all the taking down would be a bummer
Hugs cecilia
Sounds wonderful Cecilia. Do you have them on your blog. I would love to see a photo :) I hope they get lots of help when taking them down. Hugs, Denise xo
DeleteI do miss the days when we would get trick or treaters. Living in the country with acres between us does not bode well for that event!
ReplyDeleteSeeing the trick or treaters is always fun. I am wondering how many we will get this year :)
DeleteVery nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine :)
DeleteLovely. It’s good to get into the ‘spirit’ of these things! 😁
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is Sal :)
DeleteIt is such harmless fun for many. We don't get kids anymore. Mind you, as a teacher I've had my fill!
ReplyDeleteVery true Jenn :) and thanks for the smile, I am sure you have. Applauding you and all teachers for teaching and taking care of our kids.
DeleteI enjoyed seeing your photographs, I think the pumpkins are my favourite.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
That’s great Jan, so glad! Pumpkins always seem to be a favorite :)
DeleteWe get lots of trick or treaters here. It's an easy place for parents to bring their children especially those that live in the hills with few or no close neighbors. I bought two bags of 100 pieces each but will need more than that for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou are prepared then, we usually have quite a bit of candy left over :)
DeleteLindas decoraciones. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteMe alegra que te hayan gustado. ¡Gracias! Te mando un beso :)
DeleteGreat pics of your neighborhood Halloween decorations.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, so glad you enjoyed :)
DeleteThese are wonderful decorations Denise. I love Hallowe'en so much :-D
ReplyDeleteThese are fun. You have a really festive neighborhood!
