To me a Prairie Dog is a delightful little animal. We came across them a while ago in a Prairie Dog town near Devil's Tower, Wyoming.
We came across several of these on our road trip in that area.
Hi Tom, whoever you are (sign painted in lower right).
Below is a photo of Devil's Tower. You can read about it here. Sci-fi fans may recognize this famous landmark when it was shown in the 1977 movie, "Close Encounters of the Third Kind". You can see a partial clip from the movie here.
And just as a matter of interest, here is a photo of the model used in the movie. We found it at the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum, and their website is here.
Thank you for stopping by, and for putting up with another post that I transferred from my old blog. Hopefully the links are still open but if not I will correct them tomorrow. I need my sleeps right now.
Wow, the model is so cool! I love prairie dogs! when we went to to zoo, I think I spent more time watching them than anything else. They are adorable. You got some really good shots. I've been scrolling through and trying to pick a favorite, but I just can't.
ReplyDeleteMe too, I had only ever seen them at the zoo and here they were, in their own natural habitat. It was very exciting. We were there a long time observing. Darling little things and they were everywhere!!! And I had a hard time picking a favorite also. Thanks Ginny :)
DeleteNever heard of these prairie dogs
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, if you don't have any in your area, it's hard to know what's out there :)
DeleteCute prairie dogs! Thanks for sharing.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you loved them Ann, they are and thank you :)
DeleteWe lived in Colorado for decades and Devil's Tower was a day's drive from home. I really enjoyed the portraits today too...my favorite is the one at the fence post!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Anni, and how wonderful you lived in Colorado! That's a place I would love to explore more, and be in a place where I could get to Devil's tower more easily. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting on a bench, on a hill, with that great behemoth in front of us. It's an amazing sight and couldn't do it justice in my photos.
DeleteColorado...from 1956-1996
