We were at Green Spring Gardens again last week, and there were several wildflowers blooming. One was the Trillium. I had not seen one for a long time. We found ours in a wooded area between the ponds, before we walked up the hill to the more manicured area. I love walking through this wood and enjoy looking to see what is blooming.
According to this website, and I quote:
"There are 39 native trilliums in the U.S. All trillium species belong to the
Liliaceae (lily) family. Native to temperate regions of North America and East
Asia, the genus ‘Trillium’ has 49 species, 39 of them are native to various
areas across the United States."

It is lovely! I don't think I have ever seen one, and would never have guessed it is in the Lily family.

DeleteDon't know think I've ever come across trillium. Living in a desert country, I am happy for anything to grow -- wildflowers and even the so-called weeds that some people like to label. If it's green it grows. The pollinators sure aren't picky about their flowers. They all have importance in the environment. :) Have a good week.

DeleteTrillium is such a favorite. We see it here too (not for another month or so) and I always feel like spring is really here when I see it bloom. What a wonderful photo.

DeleteI've not seen one in the wild...only in photos. I like them as they age where they turn pink/purple.
