From Oxford Languages, "used to encourage or draw attention to the performance of some physical, especially acrobatic, feat." In this case Mr. Squirrel giving a ten-out-of-ten performance while on the balance beam, after hearing yet another dinner bell in the next garden.
"Alleyoop Mr. Squirrel, Alleyoop!"
Next word of the day, "Motivation".
I believe you have captured the essence of the squirrel!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny, that's what I was going for :)
DeleteDefinitely Alleyoop Mister (or Ms) Squirrel.
ReplyDeleteYes, should say (or Ms) too :)
DeleteSquirrels are so amusing to watch and yours looks 'full of the joys' on your feeder.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, they most always seem full of joy, unless they are telling each other off and shaking their tails :)
DeleteThey sure are entertaining to watch. I remember them cleaning out my bird feeder quite frequently.
ReplyDeleteI agree, they certainly are :) I now say "Let's remember to put the seed out for the birds and the squirrels." Lately, they won't eat the smaller seed in the mix, so the birds seem to get their fair share.
DeleteI love watching their antics, along with determination and stamina.
ReplyDeleteMe too Anni and how I wish I had that stamina :) I do pretty good on determination. Or as hubs would say, "When she gets a bee in her bonnet...", lol!
DeleteAlleyOop is quite the word for that shot. Of course I'm of a certain age and it also is the name of an old cartoon strip about the cave man, Alley Oop.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am of a certain age too Carol but I need to go look up that cartoon :) I've probably just forgotten it.
DeleteGreat word -- and wonderful squirrel cartoon! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Jeanie, it came to me as soon as I saw that photo and the post evolved :)
DeleteThey are so rarely still.
ReplyDeleteTrue! Unless it's a very hot day and they are laying flat after stuffing their faces :)
DeleteI have a really big grin on my face and its still there. love your cam visitor and the cartoon... ring that dinner bell. that cam shot is priceless
ReplyDeleteYour first sentence made me happy Sandra :) So glad you enjoyed. I'm happy to be putting the cam out there now. Stay tuned! ;)
Delete😀 makes me think of cartoons
ReplyDeleteMe too Sandi :)
DeleteOh my! Ring the dinner bell! heehee! We saw 2 very fat squirrels in the forest yesterday. Hope they stay out there where they belong! lol
ReplyDeleteHi Diane, yes, when they start burrowing into the rafters for winter, it can be a pain. Or at least I hear as that has never happened to us. I hope I haven't jinxed myself ;)
DeleteFun word! I love watching squirrels!
ReplyDeleteHappy Tuesday, Denise.
Thank you Veronica, so glad and Happy Tuesday to you too :)
DeleteThat is so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenn, glad you think so :)
DeleteGreat words! I just learned Webster's word of the year is 'vaccine'.
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine, and for the info about the word of the year. Oh my!
DeleteWe have squirrels visiting our garden, I enjoy watching them.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
They are fun aren't they Jan? All the best to you too :)
DeleteHaha! Hilarious shot. Made me laugh. Happy new week to you.
ReplyDeleteThen my job is done, always happy to bring a laugh Ellen. Thank you and I hope your new week is going well :)
DeleteAmusing Denise.
ReplyDeleteGreat! Thank you Margaret, so glad you enjoyed :)
DeleteLol!
ReplyDeleteMe too Cloudia, still chortling when I see this photo :)
DeleteI so love this! And love the sketch/cartoon, too.
ReplyDeleteThat's great, glad you enjoyed Rose :)
