Two or three weeks' ago our GPS took us by, but my reactions weren't fast enough to take a photo.
Last Sunday we were on the same road and I remembered the mural in time to get my cell phone ready. There were a lot of cars coming and going, and it wasn't possible to stop. I took my photos from the passenger seat, and kept my fingers crossed.
I looked on line but I couldn't find anything about the artist, or that of his work. It shows George Washington on the right with the Colonial Flag behind him (famously connected to Betsy Ross, who is said to have made the original - there's a story), The Capitol on his left and the Washington Monument on his right. His home, Mount Vernon, is further along on the left. The mural was on the side of a hotel and next time we drive by I hope to get its name.
Some great quotes by George Washington are at this website.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day.
Well done. I very rarely succeed in taking half way decent photos from the car.
ReplyDeleteThank you EC, sometimes I'm lucky taking these photos, sometimes I'm not :)
DeleteYou did a great job with the photos, considering the circumstances! I think my favorite part is the beautiful horse! Lovely mural.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny, I've asked hubby if we could actually pull into the hotel next time, so that we can read the artist's signature.
DeleteHmmm! Were you trained as a photographer? Hope you can uncross your fingers now.
ReplyDeleteNope but I appreciate the question Valerie, thank you :) And yep, fingers are now uncrossed, lol!
Deletethese are excellent, can't belive they are cell pics from a moving car. wow.. i do like it a lot.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, these cell phones take the most amazing photos. Who knows where their technology will be when the time comes for me to buy a new one :)
DeleteWhat a great mural! I love it! I find it so frustrating when I can't find info!
ReplyDeleteThank you Tanya. It is very frustrating, and I am so curious I am going to stop at the hotel next time :)
DeleteThat's a very beautifully rendered mural. Some artists are so talented to paint on such a large scale.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is. I am very impressed with this artist and he deserves to be recognized. Thank you Gigi :)
DeleteWow, what a great mural. Well done! Wishing you a great day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, and a great day to you also!
DeleteThat's a very cool mural.
ReplyDeleteI thought so too. Thank you Ellen :)
DeleteI find my phone takes better photos from a moving vehicle than my camera does. But not as good as yours! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Pauline, I appreciate that. My phone also takes better photos than my point and shoot. The colors are much more vibrant.
Deletefabulous mural!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine, happy you liked it.
DeleteWell done for taking photos whilst in a moving car. There's a lot of detail in that mural. I see the star pattern of The Plough in the sky section and the horse is beautifully painted. I hope you can go back, park up and take another look.
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda, always am happy to share. I hope so too :)
DeleteWhat a great mural...so glad you got to go by it again and get pics! I love it!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it Rose? Happy also that you liked it so much :)
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteI think that's what I said when I saw it the first time. Thanks Sandi :)
DeleteExcellent photos, of course I love the horse!! Keep well Diane
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane, that horse is truly magnificent isn't he, as all live horses are :)
