A continuation of our visit and walk last Sunday when we drove over to Green Spring Gardens. If you missed my other post about the dog it is here.
It was still very chilly if you consider high 40s chilly but after a grey start to the day, the sun came out and the sky was blue.
We reached the garden at three in the afternoon. There was not too much going on in the way of birdlife or flowers, but these were starting to bloom and...
I found the beauty of nature even in the barest of branches. I could not find an identifying marker for the plant below.
These are Japanese Camelia.
The parking lot was just around the corner, and we were soon in our car and on the way home.
The clouds were amazing!
A nice surprise in the photo below, a bird flying high in the sky (on the left). I enjoy finding these little nuggets in my photos.
Further along the path there were these Sweetgum pods. There were thousands of them. From one tree or more? I have no idea as I don't remember seeing trees nearby, maybe because I was so focused on what was on the ground. I will be more aware the next time we go.
I have been sharing this house several times since finding this park. Built in 1784 its history can be found here.

I came across the diagram on line, and it shows the different names for clouds. What would you say these are? I think maybe the ones on the left are good choices, but which one? Any experts out there?
Enjoy your day and
thanks for stopping by.
We know sweetgum as liquid amber. Those pods hurt if trodden on in bare feet.
ReplyDeleteLove those clouds, and yes, I would call them Cirrocumulus.
I like that name EC. Yes, I can imagine they would be painful. I was thinking about the dogs walking around. Wouldn't be good for them to get a burr in their paw either.
DeleteI agree with you about what type of clouds.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine anything blooming here yet, unless it is a dandelion. I would love to have a sweetgum tree but do not want to have to deal with those pods.
I agree, I would like one too but those pods would be a pain in more ways than one :)
DeleteThe camellias are gorgeous! So this curly branched tree is Sweetgum? It is so pretty, even bare. I don't think I have ever seen one.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see them blooming but it was such a welcome sight. The bare branches were in a different part of the park and I am not sure that this was actually from a sweetgum tree :)
DeleteLooks like you had a nice day to visit, Denise. The cloud patterns were beautiful and these never cease to amaze me as well.
ReplyDeleteThank you, it was a lovely day for cloud watching :)
DeleteI'm guessing cirrocumulus.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda :)
DeleteI enjoyed the walk in this park as it's interesting to see different plants. Blossom, blue skies and amazing cloud formations are uplifting.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I look forward to going back when more things are blooming :)
DeleteSo lovely - especially the pink blossoms!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed those too, thank you Lady Fi :)
DeleteI enjoyed all your beauty today...and not only the bird as a "nugget", but ALL the nuggets you share. Great house. Now I'm off to read it's history.
ReplyDeleteThanks Anni, makes me happy you enjoy :)
DeleteThe camellias are lovely. How I wish I could have some in my garden.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Maybe one of these days. Thank you Valerie :)
DeleteHello, it looks like a lovely walk. The blooms are pretty and I love the cky shots. Wishing you a happy day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen, happy day to you also :)
DeleteTakie stare domy są pełne tajemnic, lubię takie domy . Pięknie zfotografowalaś chmury na niebie i kwiaty . Miłego dnia:)
ReplyDeleteTo prawda, bardziej lubię stare domy niż nowe. Dziękujemy za wizytę :)
Deletemaceral sky is what we call this sky and it means the weather is about to change and it always does. I am surprised to see so many beautiful flowers with it in the high 40's. here in FL high 40's keeps us huddled in side with socks on our feet. ha ha… it is a beautiful place to visit and I enjoy seeing it
ReplyDeleteI like the name of that sky. Hubs always tells me when he sees certain clouds that there is going to be a change in the weather. Glad you enjoyed Sandra, thank you :)
DeleteOh! There is spring! Awesome photos!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne, yes, I am looking forward to spring :)
DeleteSpring is in the air! Love the cloud diagram.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is, thank you Carol :)
DeleteGreat photos. Thanks for sharing that diagram of the common clouds. Cool.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ellen and you are very welcome for the diagram :)
DeleteWhat lovely sky photographs Denise, so beautiful to see.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Always happy you enjoy Jan :) All the best to you also.
DeleteThe daffs are particularly cheerful to see.
