These were taken at the garden on Sunday, May 9th, 2019. You may recognize the top photo as one I used before, along with a quote I posted here. The tree is called a Natchez Crepe Myrtle and this link shows several photos of what they look like when blooming.
We arrived in the afternoon and as they close the gates at 4.30 p.m., it was a relatively short visit. We drove into the parking lot, deciding not to park outside the gate as we did last time.
On this visit we didn't start at the ponds as we normally do, walking inside the visitor center first. They have a lot of nice artwork on display, and a neat little gift shop. There is also a library tucked away at the far end of the center. It was our opposite day today, as instead of starting down by the ponds, we ended up finishing our walk there instead.
After we strolled around the large green, we made our way to where they have several small gardens tucked away in little nooks, each one landscaped differently. Even though you are next to the walking path, the landscaping is such that each rest area feels secluded, always with a bench to rest, ours having an arbor to sit under. This particular spot is my favorite. We sat here for 20 minutes or so, chatting and enjoying our shady nook. It was hot that day, 87 degrees F., and very humid.
I have yet to find out the name of this pretty holly with the blue berries. I looked but the markers were for other plants that were still in the soil.
There weren't too many people either. Perhaps there had been a lot more earlier, but then perhaps the heat kept them away.
I will be sharing more from the garden later.
Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day.
The berries and tree leaves are gorgeous!! How I wish I could go to this place!
ReplyDeleteIt is a very enjoyable place to look around Ginny. But then I see your photos of where you live and I love looking at your area too :)
DeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteAfter a long and busy day I am grateful for the heart balm of these glorious gardens.
You are very welcome EC and I do so agree.
Deleteeach photo is so beautiful, love the leaves in all of them and I would like to sit on that bench and enjoy the garden but not in 87 degrees.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandra, yes it was a little bit hot that day.

DeleteBeautiful garden, enjoyed seeing the blue holly berries
ReplyDeleteSo glad Christine, those blue berries were really pretty.
DeleteSome lovely views and I agree with Sandra about not wanting to sit outside in he heat, but then we're heading to TN next and it' already 90s there.
ReplyDeleteHi Dorothy, I am excited for you and looking forward to visiting to learn about your road trip. Yes, it's going to be hot for you traveling but what wonderful sights you will see.
DeleteYour last shot is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThanks William, I like that one too.
DeleteDenise,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!! Thanks so much for visiting both of my blogs and for your kind words and well wishes!! I hope you have a lovely Memorial day!!
Hugs,
Deb
Hi Debbie, thanks for visiting and welcome! It was a lot of fun stopping by both your blogs. A lovely Memorial Day to you too and continued healing with hugs.
DeleteThis sounds like such a nice place to visit...I would love to sit on a bench there and just be still and enjoy nature.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a lovely thought Rose.
DeleteI love the nice walks you take us on, Denise. So many different plants to enjoy and even spots to rest. I believe the holly like plant with blue berries is a Mahonia. Our son and his family used to have several in their garden. Have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteSo glad Martha Ellen. Thank you for ID’ing the holly bush for me. I am very happy to be able to know what it is. Have a lovely weekend also.
